S/O why do Americans shower in the morning?

Anonymous
I don't shower in the morning. I take a bath/shower at night. It makes more sense to me to go to bed clean and wake up clean. Some people need a morning shower to wake them up like coffee. I'd rather get 20 more minutes of sleep.

I feel like the Europeans are clean (unlike the above other areas), but their BO, it is just like they don't use deodorant. The business suits and the lack of A/C, the smell can bring tears to my eyes.

For me, I do shower in the morning, I normally have sex with my DH and don't exactly want to go into the office smelling "ripe". In the summer, I usually shower and rinse off before bed. Don't most people? I thought that was the norm? Seems from the responses it is.

So WHY do Americans shower twice a day?

AMEN!

I'm a teacher and working at camp this summer. One of our floaters is from Nepal. She is very sweet, pretty, and wears clean clothes but she smells very strongly of B.O. and curry or some type of strong spice. We were on a field trip to Wolf Trap last Wednesday and on a bus with no A/C. Between the heat and her odor (she sat right in front of me), I felt nauseated.

We shower in the morning because in our culture, we find it offensive to go out and about stinky. We also use antiperspirant for the same reason. Showering at night is OK but when I wake up I still feel like I need to shower again or I don't feel clean.

I have hair with no body, around shoulder length, probably on the thinner side but not super thin. I shower at night and put it in a bun. I take it out in the morning and it has a little bounce. Otherwise it has nothing.

Yeah, I could learn to style my hair.... but I don't really care that much

I shower and wash my hair in the evening after work. I have curly hair, and its dry before I sleep. In the morning I put my hair up, hop in the shower for 5 minutes to wake up, then get out and brush out my hair and flat iron it. Less damage from heat not using the blow dryer and it takes me about as long to iron as most people take to shower. I also like that if I'm feeling lazy at night, I can shave in the morning.

News flash: even if she showered 5 times a day she'd still stink. It's the food she eats.

I shower in the morning because it makes my hair look better and ensures that I am freshest for my day when I am around people. I f a get a workout in, I shower after that too.

Yes, I realize that. I feel bad but I really try to avoid her. I wonder what the kids think? She hasn't been assigned to my group yet, thank goodness.

Does anyone get all sweaty going to work from walking and standing on public transportation in the summer heat? Do you shower when you get to work?

Pp here and I feel for you. I thought you were using this as a reason for morning showers which is why I pointed out it wouldn't help. I work with a lot of East Indians and depending on which part of the country they're from (which influences their cuisine) they can stink real bad.

Yes, I do. I'm a teacher and working camp this summer. I have a seven minute (yes, I timed it) walk to the bus stop in the morning, and in that time I get sweaty. I bring a cold, wet washcloth to wipe down my face and neck (discreetly of course). But, it doesn't matter anyway, b/c I'm doing camp and will be hot and sweaty all day. Awesome! Sweat Fest 2013! Really can't wait till Autumn, if only for the cooler temps.

I shower in the AM because I need it to wake up and my hair looks like crap in the morning if I don't wash it

I hate going to bed dirty, so I shower at night. No morning shower - I like to sleep until the very last minute and I don't get sweaty at night.
