Meghan Markle and Prince Harry News and Updates

OMG it’s not a barn barn, it’s the old stables converted into luxury accommodation! He and his DW are not lacking for creature comforts in their part of the palace complex, I assure you.

The British royal family is one huge grift, I don’t know how the citizens of the commonwealth can stand it. They have NO CHOICE about being taken for this ride, they’re stuck paying the taxes and watching these inbred ijits sucking at the taxpayer teat while pontificating as though they are any better than your average council estate family with all the infidelity, pedophilia, financial impropriety (talking about you, Fergie), drama drama drama.

Harry and Meghan are at least coming by their new income honestly. She came by her personal fortune honestly and he inherited his from Diana. I think they made an honest effort to play the Firm game but the response to their awful press has been a really toxic mix of coldness and lack of support from royal courtiers and truly awful hatemongering in the comments sections of the Daily Mail, et al. I’ve never seen anything like it and it’s entirely unjustified - Meghan may have stepped wrong here or there but NOTHING justifies this level of hatemongering. I finally agree it’s some sick mix of racism, anti-American sentiment and the age old green monster of jealousy.

I still remember my mother waking me in the wee hours to watch Diana become a princess all those years ago - I was only 10. The years since then, everything that happened to her and now to Harry, make me realize it’s far better to be born a pauper than a prince. Paupers have their freedom.

Harry isn't the problem. SHE is.

Hmmm...they have different personalities. I always felt Meghan is the type of personality who is chill around her friends and people she knows and trust but guarded in public. Nothing wrong with either personality.

Its obvious that nothing about Meghan is "chill". She is hyper competitive and Type A, that is how she clawed her way to the top coming from where she does. She is very meticulous and detail oriented and goes for what she wants.

That might be true. But being natural in public and camera is hard for most people, even some actors. Harry was raised in the spotlight and taught to do well there. Meghan acts when she is in the spotlight. she’s an actress. I don’t think it’s malicious, if anything I think she’s kind of awkward and I can relate to her. I’d be so formal and sing songy if my husband called me with James cordon.

Harry’s interview with James Corden was adorable. I like him a lot. And Meghan seems lovely, too.

I must have watched a different interview than everyone else! I thought he came across as awkward and boring, but overall harmless.

She was only on for a quick FaceTime but came across well. (“Haz”?? Lol!)

I have nothing against them, but I truly don't understand why they won't go away and live the private life they claim to want instead of carrying on like youtube influencers.

The BRF isn't "paid for by taxpayers". At least not until England has a revolution and takes their wealth. That won't be happening anytime soon. Sorry.

They didn’t want a private life, they wanted a life where they weren’t being sold out to those closest to them. And I think Harry pretty strongly alluded in this interview that they wanted a life where he could put family over the crown. But he’s said over and over again he intends to work in public service for the rest of his life

Incorrect.

The BRF is funded via the Sovereign Grant which is paid for by taxpayers. Additionally, they receive funds from commonwealth countries like Canada as someone explained upthread.

Wrong!

“ The Royal Family Is Costing UK Taxpayers More Than Ever

The British Royal Family
Taxpayers in the United Kingdom are paying more money than ever for the Royal Family. The latest Sovereign Grant accounts show that the monarchy cost £67 million ($86 million) in 2018-19 - a 41 percent increase on the previous financial year.”

They get plenty of British taxpayer money from allowances, security etc

Plenty of working people in the UK and commonwealth countries which have to fund security when the inbred ijits visit are going without while this accident of birth family rakes it in.

I honestly can’t understand why so many Americans are in thrall to the very twisted system we fought a revolution to get free from. All the Disney princess crap that perpetuates this reverence every generation makes me want to vomit.

Unbelievable that in 2021 humankind is still mired in so much oppressive crap. Monarchy, religion, racism. We are barely out of the cave in so many ways.

I’m a hater but that was a masterclass in good PR. I almost forgot why I hated them. Then I recalled the whining, the entitlement and grift.

It’s also a sad picture. A man of fortune and privilege who had so much respect on the world stage is here...running through obstacle courses with a comedian. Also selling out tidbits on his famous family to make money.

Something about this just doesn’t sit right.

Yes, but the Sovereign Grant is their money. Until the British build some guillotines and take it.

Anonymous wrote:Just watched James Cordon. That was a masterclass in PR right there.

That was a 20 minute segment designed to make everyone fall back in love with Harry (successful), establish that he has not left his family and that they do not hate him (waffle maker! philip's zooming), frame Meghan as an engaged mom, frame himself as committed to service.

And all done without at all seeming like it was trying too hard.

He also, and I think this is the truth, refused to frame his leaving as having anything at all to do with Meghan. He made that choice on his own, because of how it was effecting him, and he would do it again.

People hate her because they think she manipulated him, but in the end, that is very insulting to Harry, and I feel like this was an enormous statement to all of those people, and a continued harsh indictment of the british press.

+1 He did an amazing job. He's a great public speaker who easily connected with outside audiences. Diana was the same way and look how the royal family is still desperately trying to change the narrative around her when she's been dead 30 years.

Give em hell Harry.

What hell? The BRF may or may not have protected Meghan from the press adequately or the way that Harry wanted. But other than that, what did they do or fail to do? They tried to give Harry what he wanted, gave him options, and he rejected all of them. The friendlier he acts, the better he looks. If he starts trying to give Charles or Will and Kate hell, it won't go well, let alone the Queen.

The palace is constantly responding to and complaining about H+M's work in the U.S. It wasn't even 3 hours after the Corden skit went live that 'palace sources' were complaining that Harry was overshadowing the Queen. He's trending in the U.S. and the U.K. with wall-to-wall coverage on their news for a reason - popularity.

For the British courtiers, anyone who can knock the Queen off the front page is bad news. Too bad.

What a headline! Manages to employ that undercurrent of racism (why on earth is the half second of bad rapping focused on, I had to think to know what it was referencing!), ding Meghan for 'revealing' something that was obviously planned in a bit so at this point they are literally criticizing her for saying his name in public! Also injects a little British superiority with the vaccine video (who on this PLANET is not paying attention to vaccines right now?!).

Honestly Harry himself made the queen look better than her courtiers have with the waffle maker anecdote (the fact he told it AND the content both spoke volumes) than they have managed to do in the last year.

Do they want Harry, who is no longer a working royal, to check the queen’s itinerary before he does anything?

Seriously. The palace decided they couldn't be half in/half out so H and M chose out. Now the palace is in a snit because Harry didn't coordinate his schedule with the Queen!

It's not like a vaccine PSA by the Queen and a James Cordon bit would compete against each other anyway. The courtiers should have called Harry and Cordon and asked them both to embed a link to vaccine PSA with the any media/social media with the Harry/Cordon bit. Or asked Harry and Cordon to end their scene with a plea to get the vaccine. The Queen's message could have been amplified tremendously, beyond just Britain, and especially to a younger audience that might not otherwise encounter the Queen's message on their own. Such a massive lost opportunity because the palace is so bent on making sure Harry and Meghan stay on other side of the arbitrary line they've drawn between working and nonworking royals and sure doesn't seem to prioritize public service above all else.
