If they'd cut ties last week they'd already have a new nom and they'd have ACB or Hardiman well on their way to confirmation.

Instead they will crash and burn on this over the next week only to have trump stew and wallow before making another selection... who knows it could be mid October before they even have a new nominee! Senators will have to be in DC voting on a SCJ instead of campaigning against the betos of the country giving up key time.

It just seems incredibly stupid and shortsighted for people given the gift of an unexpected second court nominee.

Perhaps, but why would they let an innocent man (because we *are* innocent until proven guilty, right?) take the fall? That's more important right now. He should have a chance to be heard, and not just withdraw with his tail between his legs. I think this is an important precedent for anyone accused - with no evidence to support the accusation. There must be a fair hearing. Otherwise, I could point my finger at anyone I wanted and claim they assaulted me.

Sex crimes prosecutor (former head of NY Special Victims Unit) is on TV and notes that one of the marks of credibility of Ford's story is that she puts Mark Judge in the room. Why would she name a second person who could instantly discredit her story if it were lying? It's a shame that the GOP Senators don't want to hear the truth.

No wonder the GOP fought so hard against having the FBI investigate. They knew more accusers were about to come forward.

She also had her polygraph done in MD on Aug. 7. Wondering if she flew or drive. I know she was vacationing on the east coast during this time, according to the letter she gave to Feinstein.

Finally, someone is asking the important questions.
/s

Once a person is caught telling one lie, it throws their entire testimony into question. Why did she say she was afraid to fly? Just an excuse to not have tot testify under oath?

Exactly. Yet she easily flew out here for the pussy march.

She never said she was afraid to fly. People surmised it because she delined to come to DC on Monday.

Yes, she did.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/21/trump-kavanaugh-christine-blasey-ford-charges-834664

"The GOP has been told that Ford does not want to fly from her California home to Washington, according to the Republican senator, which means she may need to drive across the country. Ford has reportedly told friends she is uncomfortable in confined spaces, indicating a physical difficulty in making the trip by plane."

Huh. How did she travel back and forth to Hawaii? New Zealand? It's almost as if she... flew!

I don't know why some are making this into a big deal. Plenty of people are claustrophobic, including two of my cousins. They are otherwise completely sane and intelligent individuals.

But you didn't answer the question. How is Ford able to fly to other places, but not to D.C.?

That's the best you got?

So, no answer. That's what I thought. Thanks for playing!

How about it doesn't matter? Because it doesn't. She couldn't come until Thursday. Who cares why???

I think it is likely you just want to pick her apart (more blame the victim crap) but just in case, I will explain this to you.

It is VERY common for people (men and women) to struggle with certain things at some times more than others (I have an aunt who has flown to Europe and Caribbean multiple times but went through a phase when her ds was in college in California where she had to drive across country because she couldn't stand to fly. Ten years later and she has been able to fly a couple of times in the last few years. This is not unusual.)

ALSO for victims of severe trauma (like being attacked, thinking you are going to be killed, for example) they can have setbacks when things remind them of their trauma. It is common in veterans with PTSD, it is also common in sexual assault survivors. It is called being "triggered" and once something has drudged up those experiences all over again, they can suffer from huge anxieties possibly related to their experience, possibly unrelated.

Really? You think Brett kavanaugh is more important than securing a conservative court to senators and to the base? You are very wrong about that.

Republicans were put into office not in small part literally to do this, if they fail because they stuck by this bro they will feel consequence, it will be a humiliation. People who voted for trump over Hillary holding their noses just for this moment are watching closely.

And Renate Dolphin retracts her endorsement of Kavanaugh.

This month, Renate Schroeder Dolphin joined 64 other women who, saying they knew Judge Kavanaugh during their high school years, signed a letter to the leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is weighing Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination. The letter stated that “he has behaved honorably and treated women with respect.”

When Ms. Dolphin signed the Sept. 14 letter, she wasn’t aware of the “Renate” yearbook references on the pages of Judge Kavanaugh and his football teammates.

“I learned about these yearbook pages only a few days ago,” Ms. Dolphin said in a statement to The New York Times. “I don’t know what ‘Renate Alumnus’ actually means. I can’t begin to comprehend what goes through the minds of 17-year-old boys who write such things, but the insinuation is horrible, hurtful and simply untrue. I pray their daughters are never treated this way. I will have no further comment.”

No he married "down," probably due to his insecurity and unconfident nature around women when sober....and due to his alcohol and gambling addictions.....

1. Supreme court nominees have been withdrawn for political reasons in the past, an unfavorable political situation is a perfectly legitimate reason to withdraw a candidate.

2. Clearly, the last thing the Republicans want is a fair hearing. If they did they'd be subpoenaing Mark Judge who is named as a witness by the accuser.

It took 12 women to take down Les Moonves.

It will take 24 women for Kav to resign.

However- if his wife makes a public statement that she is leaving him and taking the kids somewhere else because of the “circus” of this confirmation, he may have an out. I honestly think that she had no idea what his history was like and didn’t bargain for this $hitshow.

So it could just take one.

Brett Kavanaugh has steadily risen through the ranks of the judiciary over years of hard work. He's had six FBI investigations, none of which turned up anything. If these women had something to bring forward concerning him, why didn't they do so years ago? It's been asked before and none of you have an answer, just more B.S. All of a sudden, when it looks like he will be confirmed, these women come out of the woodwork. Very, very suspicious.

I can't sit by and let this go anymore. Done!!!

This whole situation is not okay. NOT OKAY.

Fully agree with you. It's madness.

I called my son and warned him to be careful spending time with women who could turn out to be unstable.
I cannot imagine having a false allegation thrown at him.

One of the small ‘s’ sad things that happens every time there is a public accusation of sexual assault is that we have to listen to women who have so fully internalized the misogyny they were taught at the knee that their instinct is to blame the women. It’s just sad.

Yeah. Or you could just tell your son to be polite, respectful, always ask for consent, and never approach a woman who is intoxicated except to help.

Sure. And then that intoxicated woman will claim he raped her the next day because he helped her back to her dorm room or gave her a ride home. There is no winning.

Serious question - Why don't parents advice their daughters to not drink? For one, it's the law - no drinking under 21 (just in case someone didn't know that) and a drunk woman attracts pervs and monsters. Is it because, parents drink at home a lot and kids try to emulate them later in life? We are non-drinkers so trying to understand..

Serious question - why don’t parents advise their sons not to drink and explain how being drunk can lead them to assault women?

Serious question - why don’t parents advise their sons that they should never have sex with a woman who has been drinking because drunk girls can’t legally consent?

Serious question - why don’t parents tell their daughters that no matter what the circumstances, if their daughter is sexually assaulted they will support her even if she was drinking or doing drugs or at a party or with boys or unsupervised?

Serious question - how can it be 2018 and people are still blaming girls for causing their own rape by drinking? This is the equivalent of saying girls who dress sexy are asking for it.

Who is Chris Garrett?

The targeted GP classmate of BK who was slimed and identified by Ed Whelan and GOP knee-cappers as the "real perpetrator."
