UHC CEO Gunned Down in Midtown Manhattan

He basically flipped out because he's had it so good and couldn't handle even a little bit of what broad swaths of the country endure for years on end. Ultimately, the animating factor of his action is entitlement and privilege.

I think it’s because he actually acted on it. Most leftists don’t do much more than argue with people on the internet.

It doesn’t make sense.

The doctors (the vast majority of them) are not making anywhere near what that insurance and healthcare execs make.

It takes all of 60 seconds to locate and download instructions to 3d print the frame of a handgun. There’s nothing particularly interesting or helpful about the possibility of it being 3d printed.

I hope those are separate. That you feel bad for his kids because they lost their dad so senselessly.

The fact that the suspect may be attractive should be irrelevant to your sympathy.

I don’t care about him being hot. I can’t imagine a parent getting murdered and thousands of people being happy about it.

Would you have the same sympathy for the children of a serial killer who is executed, or a pedophile who is killed by the child’s parent, or someone like Bin Laden? Is it sad when people celebrate the deaths of these types of criminals or only sad when the criminal has a fancy LinkedIn profile?

The reality is this man perpetrated a mass fraud through the use of AI and third party vendors to profit at the expense of others’ health and lives, and engaged in insider trading. He’s a mobster who commits his crimes with a fancy title.

This comparison is ridiculous.

You don't sound like you are in the healthcare business to be throwing out random figures of who makes what.

Health care execs like, say, the Magiones? Perhaps if he had had some student loans to contend with rather than a pricey k-12 and an Ivy League education on mom and dad he would have been working and not surfing and wouldn’tt have had time to murder a man and screw up his his life beyond repair.

People receive actual care from hospitals and doctors. Sometimes people do blame these entities for the cruelties of the system (and doctors and hospital administrators have received death threats and been murdered for the same reasons) but it's not surprising that a person would be more angry with a health insurance company, which is an unnecessary third party in the healthcare system, than the people and institutions that actually PROVIDE healthcare.

Often doctors and other providers will openly commiserate with patients regarding health insurance. I've had doctors who went out of their way to provide me with helpful info on how to get certain testing covered or ensure I don't get hit with surprise charges for something. I've had admin in hospitals and doctor's offices carefully double check referrals and testing orders to ensure that my appointments and tests will be covered by my insurance, even though this is not strictly their job and in theory I should have to do that myself with my insurance company.

Also while some doctors are paid an incredible amount of money (primarily certain specialists) others are really not paid that much when you consider both the cost and time involved in becoming a doctor. Add in the costs of liability insurance and many doctors (especially in lower paid specialties like internal medicine and pediatrics) are making a lot less than you might think. And that's just attendings -- many doctors you encounter in hospitals are residents or interns and they make way less than you'd think.

I feel a good deal of sadness when I look at his photo. It's all just heartbreaking. He had so much promise, every possible advantage, and threw it all away....ruined multiple lives. It's very sad.

This is something to be admired?

Shameful and disgusting.

Didn't Jefferson say the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of corporate executives?

How do you feel about the lives Thompson and UHC ruined?

Pfffffft, 3D printing is child’s play. I’ve been milling and machining guns out of solid blocks of metal since 2004.

Right? Insurance companies ruin thousands of lives daily. People here are projecting their weird UMC issues onto this guy.
