I did in the first few episodes, but she ended up being one of the biggest losers. |
I don't identify with her at all, but I was hoping she would get away from her scumbag husband. He was pretty entertaining to watch on the screen, though. ![]() |
I agree and think his demeanor between the first and last ep scenes was different and meant to throw us off a bit. Mike White does suggest a possible turn for the better in a recent interview: "Switching gears, did Shane and Rachel’s reunion at the end make you happy or sad? I felt sort of happy that they [ended up] together. The emotion of the music and [the look on] their faces, I was like, “Awww, that’s nice.” As far as what it means in terms of her idealism and what she’s choosing, it’s bittersweet. I don’t judge her for it. It was always about her choosing that lifestyle and whatever compromises she was going to have to make in connection with that. And so it made sense for the character. The way he tightly embraced her, it seemed to me like maybe the death of Armond had changed him and he was appreciating her more. Am I reading too much into that? I think that’s right. It’s paralleled with the Nicole and Mark storyline, where some kind of traumatic thing can change the DNA of a situation and make someone a little more sympathetic. I kind of wanted Shane to look like a little boy lost. Suddenly, all of his swagger is gone. And I find that that’s often true with those kind of guys. They’re so used to winning that when something bad happens they don’t really know how to process it. They’re often a little lost." |
I'd put my money on none of them being anywhere close to as hot as she is. |
Yes!!! |
Thank you! I thought I was the only one that noticed. I can’t stand Paula because of the abject hypocrisy she exhibits. She is in Hawaii getting a trip most people only dream of and seems completely put out. She is in a great college (I’m guessing because Olivia wouldn’t be seen dead in some low class school). She persuades Kai to commit a huge crime and then walks away with him in the lurch while tossing away any trace (necklace) that may give her angst to the devastation she left in her wake. And I’m bummed Armond is dead, loved his character, but it needed to happen. |
Speaking of f’d up values… |
A DC "Shane" has joined us. |

But Paula is the only one who seems to feel remorse and regret about her actions. |
She certainly should feel more remorse since her actions were far worse. |

I meant to respond to this post. |
PP. forgot to add. Paula IS privileged but she is so caught up in her victimhood, she can’t see it. At least the Mossbachers recognize theirs. |
But did she feel remorse? She could have turned herself in or come to Kai’s aid. She slipped his necklace into the ocean, seemingly a “cutting of the cord.” She may have felt sorry he got into trouble, but not enough to do anything about it. If she came clean and told the family she put him up to it, they probably would have dropped charges. BTW— does anyone think her puking indicated she was pregnant? In real life, it would be too soon to have morning sickness….but since it’s TV… |
