Was Kai supposed to steal all the jewelry? I thought he was just going to take the one bracelet? Paula said how it was just one piece and they had so many. If that was the case, she learned he wasn't as good or honest (minus the obvious) as she thought.

This is so well done and hard to watch at the same time. Almost everyone in this series is grotesque, inside and outside. The two exceptions are Alexandra Daddario’s character and Belinda.

I loved it, but I didn’t think anyone was really grotesque, with the exception of Shane and his mother. Deeply flawed, definitely. But they all really thought they were doing the best they could.

If he wanted the theft not to look like it was perpetrated by an insider who knew the value of one bracelet, he did the (criminally) right thing. What thief would steal just one bracelet when he can easily grab everything?

Yes, a whole new cast and I think I read that the loation is going to be a ski resort.

I thought it was enough to start her business as a strings free gift, without Coolidge character involved as a backer. I thought it was thousands and I got stressed about her throwing it in a drawer and figured it was going to be stolen.

I too thought it was enough money for Belinda to start her business without Coolidge involved, but that Belinda’s sadness was that she had actually finally connected with Coolidge on a personal level (realizing that she had been the first to recognize Belinda’s talents and appreciate her for them) and wasn’t looking at Coolidge simply as an investor. I think she actually wanted the team component and was bitter. That’s why she didn’t want to connect when Rachel approached - she put up an emotional wall and decided she didn’t want to act as anybody’s would be therapist anymore.

But isn’t that the point of the show? The cycle of exploitation continues. The rich people just continue on their merry ways. Shane leaves the resort with a handshake after stabbing the manager. Paula leaves Kai to face whatever his fate is. Jennifer Coolidge leaves Belinda after getting her hopes up. Etc etc.

Are our main characters changed? Sure, a little.

I actually thought Shane was changed. He looked genuinely stricken after he inadvertently killed Armond then hopeful and genuinely loving when he saw Rachel again. Maybe it won't last but there was something there. The daughter was genuinely sweet and protective to her friend after her major assholery to the people who had been nothing but generous to her. And the Mossbachers, who didn't seem like bad people, got out of their own @sses and managed to connect with one another (minus Quinn, who found more meaning in the beauty of nature). Belinda was disappointed but received a massive tip for a few days' annoyance and then stood up for herself. And the psychically tormented Jennifer Coolidge seemed to find a bit of peace and happiness, and some wisdom about her bad emotional habits. I thought there was a quiet beauty to it. With the exception of Paula's and Armond's dark arcs.

I agree that Shane seemed like he had taken a turn for the better (even though he was so rude to the couple at the airport).

None of those awful people left a better person. Does Shane have the will to take a good look at himself? Not really. I’m disappointed in Rachel. Can’t believe she went back to him.
