There’s just so much ignorance in the world. Can we please stop with any example that suggests racism is a singular, individualized act? It is an incredibly deep-seeded, socialized, and pervasive element of our society that will never be “fixed” as long as *any* race claims to be color blind, but especially white people as part of the dominant racial group in America. This is bigger than any one person’s experience as an individual (or the tone deaf and entirely unproductive “examples” of white people getting shot by cops).

That is where you lose people. Because facts are not on your side. This murder isn't just about black people. Do you think that officer wouldn't do the same thing to a white person? Actually two, and yes, I can get shot for speeding. Look at the statistics of police killings. And, no I don't always get a help or help at stores, especially depending on how I dress. And, my family is jewish so yes, we do know a bit about it but my grandparents were too worried about surviving the holocaust, but let me guess, you don't believe that happened or it wasn't important.

DP. Um, I -am- a foster mother who volunteers at a shelter and who works at an inner city school. I actually spend a lot of time on DCUM (!!!). I think your spite and intolerance are blinding you. And I agree with the ^^PP, not you.

I hope she didn’t adopt black or biracial kids. I know a couple black people raised by white adoptive parents like PP. Their parents “didn’t see color” and told them that people harassed by the police or facing discrimination at work must have done something wrong. Not surprisingly, they don’t have a relationship with their adoptive families as adults.

My impression is that people don't think that a lot of what is happening is a good reflection of them, how far they've come, the successes they've achieved, and their dreams for themselves and their children. They are outraged by the criminal behavior. And they are embarrassed, completely mortified, by language and behavior of some of the people who have been giving interviews on tv.

As an adult who was raised in a mixed race home and who, with my husband, has created a mixed race family, I am torn. But I tend more towards All Lives Matter because I don't like the exclusion and I think there is room for everyone under the umbrella.

BLM is about exclusion -- the fact that black lives are excluded from mattering!! Why are we living in a society where all lives matter except black ones? Where black lives are seen as disposable, where all others are not. If everyone could show that yes, black lives matter just as much as everyone else's life, there wouldn't be a BLM movement.
