Harvard or Columbia - Where would you go?

Anonymous
Et tu, Brute ?

And what is your background? Clearly, underdeveloped and not a decent trait in you. You advertise your own innate inferiority. Would you even match up in character and discipline to the students you denigrate? Hardly.

Where are the nasty dinosaurs of yesteryear? Hollis is far better now with those deserving students than the likes of sponges riding their fathers ( probably also undeserving) coattails from the 1920s and earlier.

Harvard is not going down the toilet. It's already in the toilet. First, the Jewish students and profs. Now the Asians.

After telling Asians "you may wish that you weren't Asian", the only thing missing is for Harvard to declare Asians are "shIthole" people. This is what happens when you have undercover KKKs run a racist institution.

Just choose whichever one you feel offers you the best of what you want.

It will not matter at the end of the day for your career which one you choose. Both Columbia and Harvard are exceptionally stimulating environments and academic centers. What should matter is where you feel you will fit and be most excited about the opportunities available.
Both Columbia and Harvard are ancient universities that were important in founding the United States with its early alumni and which continue to influence the development of the US and make global contributions.

Alexander Hamilton ( King's College - Columbia College, Class of 1778)
John Adams (Harvard, Class of 1755).

Both sound good !

This was recently explained to me by a friend who teaches at Harvard. It was enough of a turnoff to my kid that he refused to apply. He ultimately chose MIT and is happy there. He said MIT kids don’t mix with Harvard hardly at all

It's kind of silly to focus on the total number of legacy kids at an Ivy. DH went to an Ivy. DC has way better grades and ECs than DH had. DC's scores would put DC above the 75 percentile. DC would count as a legacy. I'm sure this isn't a unique situation.

I doubt many Harvard students can survive the rigor of MIT. Most Columbia SEAS students can survive MIT.

How would you know ? Maybe the MIT students could not survive the rigor of humanities/social sciences classes at Columbia and Harvard.

What a foolish thing to claim.

Sure, if you turn the order upside down. Sheer genius - meat head or potato head? I guess you attended none of these three institutions.

+1 - recruited athletes and legacies only need 900 SAT.

So, they would have trouble getting into UMBC where the average is 1290.

I knew someone in the early 1970's who played hockey and was accepted to Harvard. I was shocked at the enormous double standards, just because he played hockey - over other students who would have gobbled up all the academic goodness that the campus offered. I'll never forget that disparity.

Absolutely. It’s all a huge scam.
