School Boundaries and "One Fairfax"

So, only Great Falls Republicans care that McLean is overcrowded?
Only Great Falls Republicans care to keep their kids at Langley?

Sure.

I know right?

It couldn't be that these are just parents who decided to voice their own views.
There are many Democrats in both pyramids and I doubt any of them want McLean to stay over capacity and Langley under.

Huh?

The One Great Falls people don’t care about the overcrowding at McLean. They only care about keeping the areas currently zoned for Langley at that school and out of Herndon.

They only started to express concern about McLean - and changed their name to “Voices of Fairfax” - when it became clear that others weren’t going to pay much attention to their over-the-top concerns about getting moved to Herndon, which were on full display at the meeting at Forestville ES back in June. Speaking up about the overcrowding at McLean, which actually is a real issue, was a calculated decision to try and give their group and preferred SB candidates more legitimacy.

They care more than the school board, that's for damn sure.

Who cares if they care?

The more people that support the school board getting off their collective butts and fixing the overcrowding at McLean, the better.

Obviously the school board wasn't going to get around to it in a reasonable amount of time. Even though it's their JOB and the fix is CLEAR.

Fine but then, by the same token, who cares why the SB is taking action now, so long as they are doing something.

"Why" for the school board only matters when it comes to how they can be expected to act in the future. It shouldn't take all of this effort to get simple solutions going.

I don't vote on who the parents at other high schools and local organizations will be.

I do vote for school board reps. That's the difference.

Uh huh. Most of the Board that takes office in January 2020 will likely consist of new members.

Tholen will be the new Pat Hynes. All about the environment and social justice.

Tholen? She’s lying to get elected.

Half, I thought.

One or two of them are trying to make the move to B.O.S. Still relevant.

You think concern with the environment and social justice is a bad thing?

Tholen seems quite practical to me. She’s also lived in the county over 25 years, which is probably 5X as long as her opponents combined.

She has an agenda. And, it's not about academics.

How so? Among the Dranesville candidates, the biggest whopper I’ve seen was Ardavan Mobasheri’s suggestion that he was somehow going to convince the county in short order to build a new secondary school in the middle of Tysons.

Half are not seeking re-election and at least half of the incumbents seeking re-election are vulnerable.
