And there's nothing anyone wants to do to help their home countries deal with the problems, so as to make them more safe and stable so that there would be less people fleeing. The refugees showing up at our border are a symptom, but instead they are treated as the disease, and that approach will never solve anything, because people desperate to flee will continue to do so. It's like there's broken glass on your kitchen floor and you're complaining about how many band-aids you've used and how you need shoes with thicker soles instead of even giving any consideration to sweeping the glass up. Instead we should be looking to help those countries. But we don't even want to, because they are "shitholes" not worthy of further consideration, per brilliant Trump foreign policy.

Uhh did you 2 forget about mexico who wanted to give them residency? They also had the option to travel to closer countries which are just as safe. We have central americas gangs in the US too but then again we also have the almighthy dollar that attracts them. So its greed bringing them here plain and simple.

Nope, that "Mexico offered to take them in" narrative was utter and complete bullshit. Numerous reporters and others tried following up on that and even went with refugees as they tried getting visas and legal asylum in Mexico and saw that they were getting absolutely nowhere with Mexican officials. There were many reports on this, video accounts of their attempts to get papers, et cetera. Mexico was refusing them.

Even if so, why should we except hundreds of thousands of economic dead weight migrants who don't even speak that language that they need to get employed in the US?

Your great grandparents quite likely came to America as economic migrants unable to speak the language.

You missed. I am the first generation of my family living abroad. I came here legally loaded with high potential - high education, clean criminal record, no socially dangerous diseases.
An this is how it suppose to be.
And if my grandparents would be blessed to immigrate to this country they would not have a dime of freebies that ''refugees'' get plenty of these days. They would have survives on their own the best they could - just like millions of others who immigrated back in a day. You missed again.

Wow, you are so full of bogus talking points. Illegal immigrants are ineligible for federal "freebies" and as far as diseases we have a far bigger problem with nutty US citizen antivaxxers than we do with migrants.
You have no idea how the legal immigration process works.
Every LEGAL immigrant is checked for HIV, TB, syphilitic by default, and for other spreadable deceases such as leprosy (if there is known pool in the country of origin) .
Every LEGAL immigrant is required to have a minimum $ to support each family member for a year - $12.5 K x 12 months MINIMUM. Until he finds a job.
Every LEGAL immigrant is required the proof of the clean criminal record.
Every LEGAL immigrant is required the proof of college education or a profession that is in demand in the US (floating demand).
You have no idea how the immigration law works but you have guts to speak about it, which is stupid.
Go to any low prices store such as Save a Lot and see for yourself what your beloved ''ineligible for fed benefits'' pay with for the groceries that they buy - the yellow food stamps card.
Go to any section 8 housing development in MD or MoCo and see who lives there - same ''ineligible for fed benefits''. You know how much they pay for a nice 2 br apartment? $10-$60 range a month.
Go to any school in MD and MoCo and see who's kids have free lunches and ESOL services.

You and your ilk make it very hard for legal immigrants to get processed because illegals jam immigration courts with their fake asylum claims. But guess what? Every legal immigrant in this country see what liberals are doing to them and they are not on their - your - side.

Okay. Prosecute to the fullest every employer for hiring illegal immigrants. Now what is your solution to the crisis of 76k+ per month at the border?

Practice what you preach, honey. It's hard to take you seriously when you give your Dear Leader a pass on what you accuse Democrats of.

Fantastic. No ideas.

The president sn't my dear anything.

What great ideas do you have?

There is a lot we can do or at least try:
-Implementation of a safe third country agreement with Mexico
-Put judges on the border/have them conduct the initial interview instead of BP. Most fail to get asylum so if they make the initial interview more stringent we will spend less money for these people moving through an asylum system they will ultimately fail
-no release into the interior of the country while your case is being heard, no granting of work visas unless you are granted asylum

- if they have been released previously, have law enforcement check on them at the address listed. Chances are they are staying with their illegal aunt/uncle/cousin/sibling/parent
- drones, facial recognition at the border

And finally... a physical barrier to keep them out in the first place

- Mexico already offered them asylum. They refused and rushed the US border - watch the footage.
- Do you really think that those whose asylum claim was rejected will turn around and walk back to their country of origin? Really? No, they will go look for a hole in the fence and get in the US. Watch the footage.
- There are not enough facilities to keep them in. Thousands were released in Texas just <> a month ago. Watch the footage.

You know what your problem is?
You are assuming that you deal with law abiding people who respect the law of this country. They don't. They don't have any respect for the US law or for citizens of this country who have to pay for them. They don't respect YOU.

Agree with your last sentence. We need to keep them out in the first place.

If we had a safe third country with Mexico, it wouldnt matter if they turned down asylum in Mexico. Just the fact that they touched Mexican soil first would be all that is needed to send them back to Mexico or deport them home.

We do have enough space to hold them if build more facilities and utilize the ones we already have.

This problem needs more than one solution. They will crawl under or jump over the fence. We also need to be able to send them back quickly when they do that. Fine/Jail employers who knowingly hire them. Track people who come here on visas to ensure they leave. Expand facial recognition at airports and land crossings so that we know who is coming in and that they left. All these things need to happen, not just one thing

OMG. Thank you for this ! I immigrated legally too and I have a family in a waiting list for few years now. Some countries have 20 plus year of waiting time for families to come America legally. My husband works for DHS now over 20 years and his friends from Mexico, Cuba, Russia and Iran who immigrated here legally and they love America and they can’t believe the way some Americans think or are uneducated about illegal immigrants. I will share your post with them . Thank you !

Slave owners as of today still consider slaves subhuman animals - no matter the race. There are white, black and everything in between color slaves that suffer as we speak.

Trump rightfully called MS-13 gang members animals. They are.

But Pelosi (was it her?) called MS-13 animals ''children of God". Liberals worship the wrong god. With a pair of horns and hooves, and a split tongue.

People who come to the border, seeking asylum, are NOT "illegals." Cutting aid to their home countries will not solve that problem. Building a wall will not solve that problem. Ending the Family Case Management Program did not solve that problem. Limiting the number of refugees did not solve that problem.

NOTHING TRUMP HAS DONE OR SUGGESTS ADDRESSES THE REAL ISSUES. All he does on this issue is pander to a cruel, ignorant, angry base. It's gross.

Anonymous wrote:https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/05/us/border-crossing-increase.html

Even the NYT admits that the U.S./Mexico border is in crisis due to the overwhelming number of immigrants trying to gain entrance.

"For the fourth time in five months, the number of migrant families crossing the southwest border has broken records, border enforcement authorities said Tuesday, warning that government facilities are full and agents are overwhelmed.
More than 76,000 migrants crossed the border without authorization in February, more than double the levels from the same period last year and approaching the largest numbers seen in any February in the last 12 years.
“The system is well beyond capacity, and remains at the breaking point,” Kevin K. McAleenan, commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, told reporters in announcing the new data.
“These solutions are temporary and this situation is not sustainable,” Mr. McAleenan said. “This is clearly both a border security and a humanitarian crisis.”
Beginning for the first time in October, members of families have come to outpace apprehensions of individual adult migrants. Mr. McAleenan said the authorities believe this is a result of smugglers having effectively communicated across Central America that adults who travel with children will be allowed to enter and stay in the United States.
“Crossing with a child is a guarantee of a speedy release and an indefinite release into the United States,” Mr. McAleenan said.
Brian Hastings, the agency’s chief of law enforcement operations, said that since April 2018, border agents had detected nearly 2,400 cases in which migrants had falsely claimed to be related when they were not, or untruthfully claimed to be younger than 18.
The larger numbers and the surge into more remote areas of the border have drawn new attention to longstanding problems with medical services provided by Customs and Border Protection. Migrant families, in particular, tend to arrive in urgent need of medical attention, the agency said, which has strained resources and drawn agents away from their law enforcement duties.
Last year, the agency referred 12,000 border crossers to emergency rooms for care, each one requiring an agent to wait with them at the hospital and ensure they were immediately returned to federal custody upon release. The rates of hospital referrals are increasing, the agency said, with about 145 agents per day currently acting as hospital escorts. Meanwhile, cocaine seizures for the current fiscal year have already exceeded the previous one, and methamphetamine seizures have also increased, according to the agency, a situation that also is demanding staff resources.

I find it unbelievable, to say the least, that the U.S. is supposed to pay for all of the medical attention these people need. Many of them arrive at the border extremely sick, and then our Border Patrol is blamed when they die in custody - as if we were responsible for them getting sick in the first place. Why isn't Mexico stopping these people and treating them rather than allowing them to continue to our border?

American Government and people are dumb. And Democrats promote illegal crossing by saying no humans are illegal or no need for borders/ICE etc . Democrats are destroying America.

Asylum laws are part of international treaties. The fact is, we HAVE to deal with asylum seekers. The question is, should they be detained, with children separated from their mothers, or is there a better solution? Just saying "America is closed, don't come" isn't a solution and it isn't realistic.

Trump has made a bad, but improving situation a thousand times worse.

Then change the Asylum law . I’m sure it is not easy but Americans need to think family first as in America first. No one on earth throws their families under the bus and go save someone who is walking on the sidewalk. The family separation has been this way since I immigrated 25 years ago and I’m sure it was that way before that time. Or was there Airbnb for 5 plus years the families were waiting for their court dates?

“Is there a better solution “? Don’t let asylum seekers in the country until asylum is granted. That way no family separation.

I hope you and your family are never put in the situation that the US is putting these families in. Such heartless tripe for a supposed "christian" nation.

Evidence?

It's gross.

Have you urged your Congress critters to work with President Trump on the real issues? Congress legislates.

WTF? The US isn’t a “christian” nation.

The other PP is still a d1ckhead though. Probably a “christian”. Typical.

Really? I know many legal immigrants who are on our liberal side b/c of the rhetoric that is used. If you are a legal latina immigrant, do you really think ICE gives you a break on believing that you are legal. No. They through you in the pot with everyone else. So before you think you are better, check yourself.
