And, I saw a report recently that said the number of illegal immigrants in our country is sorely underestimated. It is likely it is doubled what has been estimated.

Anyone who says this isn't a crisis is not living in reality.

The number of undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. could be double what the generally accepted estimate is, according to a study released Friday by researchers from Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The U.S. government and most groups put the number of undocumented immigrants at around 11 million to 12 million, but researchers from Yale and MIT give a “conservative” number of 16. 7 million in 2016 and an average of 22 million, according to Yale Insights.

Bloomberg reported the study could validate claims made by President Trump that the real number on undocumented immigrants in the country is as high as 30 million and could offer ammunition for the president and immigration critics to take a harder stance on the issue.

And anyone who cites Faux News on immigration is immediately discounted. Bye bye.

Screw you.
The actual study - by Yale - was linked in the article. https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0201193
Happy reading, jerk.

Basically once they cross the border we are screwed.

We can not send them back and are responsible for their media caree, housing, legal fees...

Maybe if we immediately disqualified anyone crossing the border illegally for gettiing asylum, maybe that would work. Demand they go to a consulate or proper border crossing.

Also if we do not incentivize crossing illegally, it’s would put less kids and migrants at risk.

Where are the Dems and Republicans in Congress on this as the law needs to be changed.

^^^. I stand corrected. Stable geniuses who completely understand the concept of linking a source, instead of dropping huge blocks of texts.

Why hasn't the Trump administration hired more Border Patrol agents and immigration officials? Fiddling while Rome burns seems to be this administration's MO.

Why hasn't Congress passed a bill that would allow for more border barriers to discourage easy entry to our country?

none of the people in the article are here illegally. a wall doesn't address the issue.

They crossed illegally. A wall is needed.

More importantly a safe third country agreement with Mexico is needed so we can send these people right back.

Why is there an uptick now when it was going down during the Obama administration?

There was $25billion in border security funding that was offered just this past December. Trump turned it down. Instead he opted for about $5bil. Not sure how that helps the border situation.

Exactly. Why is Trump not serious about border security? He seems more interested in using immigration as a wedge issue for the election than in any meaningful actions.

It's all a show for his base. And they think the $5 billion is so much better than the $25 billion in border security.
