On film, you have Trump demanding more border security, which includes his wall, you have Trump promising to shut down part of the government if he does not get the security requested, and Schumer and Pelosi saying that what we have now is good enough. ON FILM.

Brilliant move on Trump's part

Fascinating how two people can watch the same meeting and arrive at two different conclusions.

You think he owned the libs. Others see him getting owned. I see both perspectives on Twitter, as well as here.

Did you watch the meeting live?

The whole thing. Schumer asked for it to continue privately. Not Trump. Why don’t Pelosi and Schumer want a wall?

Why didn't Trump and the GOP do something in the last 2 years when they had complete control? Why has the Trump administration spent $13 million to hire just TWO border protection officers? What exactly is a wall going to accomplish other than being a shiny symbol for Donnie?
Most important: WHY ISN'T MEXICO PAYING as Trump boasted throughout his campaign?
Answers, please.

+5 billion

So what is your solution to this border issue? All i hear is yapping and pointing fingers. This has been going of for decades. Illegals will not stop coming until extreme measures are taken.

Don't be intellectually lazy. Plenty of common-sense measures have been proposed. Why hasn't the GOP taken up any of them, such as E-verify? Simple. All those Republican farmers would lose their illegal immigrant workers, for starters. Don't pretend that the Republicans are the ones who want to solve this issue and the Democrats are the ones standing in the way.

This. In this age of information technology, employers can take many measures to ensure they don’t hire undocumented labor if they don’t want to. e verify, tons of websites that show you how to look for signs that the paperwork is official. Yet many employers don’t want to because they don’t want to pay a fair wage to American workers (like our POTUS). It’s far cheaper to fight unwanted immigration with information technology than a 5 billion dollar wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for. But trump won’t do that because he likes profiting off immigrant labor at the same time he vilifies it.

+1 Lock up the employers for hiring undocumented immigrants (i.e. Trump for hiring at Bedminster), and watch how fast the border flow drops. But Republicans don't want to lock up their base, and Trump wants to keep the fiction that he doesn't want undocumented labor in the country at the same time he hires them. Just like the fiction that Mexico was going to pay for the wall. Whatever happened to that campaign promise?

No, this is not the Onion, this is an actual DHS press release.

WE ARE BUILDING THE FIRST NEW BORDER WALL IN A DECADE.

DHS is committed to building wall and building wall quickly. We are not replacing short, outdated and ineffective wall with similar wall. Instead, under this President we are building a wall that is 30-feet high.

FACT: Prior to President Trump taking office, we have never built wall that high.

And then there are pictures of the new border FENCE which is, apparently, actually a WALL.

I think if the GOP wanted to get serious about security, they’d go after angry white men with a history of domestic abuse, because pound for pounds that’s far and away the most dangerous group in America.

54 Senators including most Democrats voted to appropriate *$25 billion* that Trump could have spent on his border wall.

Trump insisted on cutting family-based immigration too. His plan got 39 votes. Now he doesn’t have the wall money or the family immigration cuts.

Sad.

He should have read Art of the Deal, and not just have the ghost writer write it.

Shumer and Pelosi should have reminded him of this and asked what happened?

They did and Trump mumbled some nonsense about Mexico paying through the new trade deals. It's there in the meeting transcript.

They should bring this up every time Trump wants to fund his wall

The financial benefit of USMCA over NAFTA is between 275B and 750B depending on your source. The full wall is 25B.

Mexico has already paid for it.

“Ah yes, who can remember that catchy call and response from every Trump rally?

Trump: What are we going to do?
Crowd: Build the wall!
Trump: Who's going to pay for it?
Crowd: We are, but the costs might be offset by unverifiable savings from mild tweaks to existing trade pacts!”

+ 1 Our government taxes in action - probably a 6-figure employee who "works" from home 3 days a week.

Honestly I know it's a trite comment but "DHS is committed to building wall and building wall quickly" seems like a google translate from another language - Russian?

That was my first thought. It really seems like non-native English speaker English, which is not what you would expect in a DHS comms shop.
