+1 The Democratic Senators are just pointing out how these accusations a merit an investigation but that the Republicans aren't willing to do it because they're afraid of the outcome.

This seems to be the linchpin, to convince Manchin, Murkowski and Collins to hold off on approving a "Motion to Proceed" until an FBI investigation can be undertaken in light of the allegations. They may also ask to hear from other witnesses.

This wouldn't mean they oppose Judge Kavanaugh on the merits. In effect, though, they stop the clock yet again while their conditions are met. The question then is whether the rest of the Republican caucus can bear to hold off and take the chance on what facts come to light out of such a probe.

If McConnell cuts bait at that point, and the President immediately withdraws the Kavanaugh nomination and submits a new one, they could jam that through before the new Senate is seated on January 3.

I just do not understand their loyalty to someone who is completely, wholly unfit for office. Is Mueller coming soon? I just don’t understand why otherwise they’d be obsessed with someone who has perjured, is $400K in debt to someone, talks about the Clintons (still?!).... what’s the love for Kavanaugh?

+1 If he were innocent he would have welcomed an investigation. There's a lot of people in Chevy Chase who won't feel comfortable having him around their kids anymore.

Outside counsel in Kavanaugh hearing told Republican senators she would not have been able to prosecute

Washington (CNN)The outside counsel who questioned Christine Blasey Ford told Republican senators Thursday night she would not have been able to prosecute Ford's sexual assault claim against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh based on the evidence, a GOP aide told CNN.

Rachel Mitchell said she also wouldn't have been able to obtain a search warrant, the aide said.
The guidance, first reported by The New York Times, could serve to strengthen Republican resolve ahead of critical votes in which Kavanaugh's fate will be decided, likely by razor-thin margins in the Senate.

How can it not? he has shown he is raging alcoholic who has attacked women.

The ONLY REASON for no FBI investigation in to allegations is because he knows it would show he is guilty. And he is a pathetic blowhard.

He's on record having said that sitting Presidents shouldn't be indicted. Not many jurists have said that. This all goes back to Trump's shady illegal behavior and his fear of Mueller and all the other investigations he's under.

It is a good thing she wasn't handling the Dr. Nassar case!

People in Chevy Chase are the most shallow folks I have met. They will absolutely have their children around s SCJ, even if he has a history of sexual assault.

Who cares what that partisan hack from Arizona says. She was terrible yesterday--with her random incoherent questioning.

But why the hurry? They could have put a polish on this third if they had slowed down: why the insane hurry? I sure wish Mueller telegraphed his moves.

1. The friend that she went to the party with does not support her story. If things happened the way that she said they did, her friend would have remembered that night. She left the party without talking to her friend. That friend would have been angry. Two girls at a house with 4 boys and one of them leaves without telling the other? That friend would have called her the next day asking what the heck happened. Also what kind of friend gets assaulted by two guys and leaves her friend in the house with the same two guys???

2. Her family is not supporting her. That is very telling.

I am no fan of Kavanaugh, BUT so many questions!

Strongest memory was laughter, not face of attacker - how is she so sure it was Kavanaugh?

Implored FBI to determine employment history of Mark Judge, when her lawyers presumably had access to Judge's book.

Who drove her home? She didn't have a car/license and Leland presumably did not either, given that they were in the same grade. That would mean that a boy drove her home. Could not have been Mark or Brett - that leaves PJ or boy whose name she doesn't remember.

She testified that she ran out of the house, passing the kids in the living room -- what happened after she ran outside? How did she get someone to drive her home?

Also, what about Squi, whom she was dating? When did they stop dating? Where was he that night?

You probably haven't met many people. And I'm from Chevy Chase, and people have been talking about how we won't be able to coach kids' sports anymore.

He would be against impeachment for Trump. This is why Trump selected him

Of course she did! But this is not a court of law. I 100% believe Ford but couldn’t convict kavanaugh in a court of law. That doesn’t mean that he has shown himself worthy of the seat.
