Preschool and Daycare Discussion
| Has anyone who has spoken with detective in last day or so gotten the impression they are close to an arrest? |
Thank you for sharing! |
| Question to the victims’ families please - why do you believe he has not yet been arrested? Have you been given an explanation? If there is any possibility that this is just a terrible misunderstanding, I am sure you will be as happy as we all will. In case the investigators do not take this as seriously as they should (so many examples out there - old and new), is there something that we collectively need to do? Someone on this thread suggested for us to all meet without the school mnagement or police present. Perhaps stay longer after the proposed September training? As you know, the teacher has been active w the school in other capacities also and for a long time, even before 2016. I think this is the reason why some parents I heard from are still relaxed - I also heard from those on the verge of a break down. Any insight on this would be much appreciated, thank you! Another parent PS To all those who posted different resources, thank you, very useful! |
| Has anyone heard from or spoken to detectives since last Thursday? It sure does feel like nothing is happening, which is good for WHC but not good for WHC families, the victims and the community at large. |
It has not even been 2 weeks since the police were first alerted to this situation, so it's completely unrealistic to expect an arrest to happen already. It sounds like this investigation is an enormous can of worms given how many kids this teacher had access to, and the insanely lax policies WHC had. Plus, presuming the allegations are true (I believe they are) it still takes time to get evidence, details, determine timing, figure out everyone who was impacted, etc. I, personally, would absolutely not use the lack of an arrest to "relax and think it might have been a terrible misunderstanding". I think MPD is...not exactly the best police force out there, and I'm sure WHC is not being as helpful as they could be. But do I think they are sitting on their asses just hoping this will blow over? No. |
PP - hit sent too soon. Meant to add that I think there is no harm in parents meeting on their own to come up with other plans of action. |
I completely agree with this! I've always thought that. |
Glass doors are actually more unsafe. Should there be an emergency situation, such as an active shooter, the shooter would be easily able to see into the classroom to see if children are present and/or easily break the glass and gain entry if the door is locked. Perhaps keeping doors open is a better solution. |
Lockdown drills for an active shooter situation include specific instructions/requirements regarding glass paneled doors -- teachers pull down a blind and/or move all children to a location in the room completely out of view from the glass panel. |
Ugh. What is wrong with the world.
|
Precious time wasted. |
| Unfortunately, there is not one good solution as far as windows and locked doors. One agency (fire department) says locked doors are bad because it is harder to evacuate. Another agency (police) like locked doors because they might deter a shooter for a few extra precious seconds. Same types of issues for glass doors-visibility is good for some things but bad for others. All schools face these impossible decisions now as they seek to protect children. |
So the LAMB situation came out because a school neighbor reported inappropriate contact on the playground? Wow. |
| Was the suspect involved with the Sunday school? I haven’t seen it mentioned. My two children attended last year. |
exactly, and thank you. who will take our children at their word. arrest, arrest, arrest. |
