Is BW even still around? |
| Yes BW is still around. |
| BW is around, but a much lower profile and much less on field success. The googling of their owner has a lot to do with that. |
BW is a ghost. VLC is made up almost entirely of kids from VA. My kid's team had one kid from Bethesda and one kid from NC. All the rest are from VA. Makes sense, they are the Virginia Lacrosse Club after all. When PVI moves farther west, VLC will start drawing more and more kids from places as far flung as Culpeper and Fauqueir That'll leave Madlax. But NL and DCE have chipped away at the MD pool of players. ML will be boxed in to close in VA suburbs. Lots of talent, but not enough to fuel the national powerhouse success ML has enjoyed for all these years. So while NL may not supplant ML or VLC, they can become major players in the DMV club scene. |
Agree that BW is the one lost in this. They do not have enough to fill a pure 2022 team and will have even more trouble getting a 2023 team if they can even get one. It is unlikely that they will get kids from ML 2023 or NL and VLC 2023. NL is already number 2 and really not competing for kids with VLC. |
| Agree with a lot of this. NL and DCE have a great talent pool, but are competing with each other for those kids. So in any given year, there can only be one top tier team between the two. VLC is getting all the top kids from Loudoun, Prince William and non-East Fairfax. Madlax is squeezed by thre three of those clubs and is relying on East Fairfax and kids from other states. BW is on life support. |
| DCE should focus on expanding westward and on public schools. It’s not sustainable to have two clubs fishing in the same talent pool. There are only so many talented kids in close in Moco who go to Landon, Zaga, St. Andrews and St. Albans. |
Is this a joke? Montgomery County public HS is awful. Few top players. Before they became DCE, Performance got MC public kids, and the teams were predictably awful. |
Thanks for sharing how awful MoCo public HS are. Churchill and other schools have players going D1 schools including Brown, Navy, Bucknell, Towson. |
Get out of your bubble. Churchill is a pretty good program and has had a good run. Several great players. As a whole, however, Montgomery County public school lax is garbage. You cannot field a great club with MC public school kids. That was the basis of Performance and the talent pool is too shallow. LOL. |
The pool of holdbacks in public school is shallow - there's little tolerance for arrested development. |
|
There are some holdbacks at public school teams. Not many, but some.
The issue with Montgomery County is that there are some many private schools within driving distance. That is why most of the top players in that are going to private schools, and why Montgomery County public HS lacrosse is awful. |

Don’t fall for the nice guy images. The Mitchells and Heet believe NL can pummel DCE, and then make inroads v Madlax and VLC across the river. They already control Heights and Alban and enticing more and more Zaga and Landon kids. They do so in pursuit of the Benjamins, but they’ll have you believin it’s for the sake of the game and your boys that they grind.
When will this club madness end? |
Yes, lets disparage a business for trying to grow. |
| I was impressed by the list of 2020 college commits. Dudes must be doin something right. |
