DA vs ECNL vs everything else

If ASA doesn't keep expanding as planned, only the BEST move on to Spirit.

That is the whole idea of a DA pyramid. This is not ECNL where there is no pyramid to eventually consolidate the best and the focus is different.

It runs out at U14. I am guessing that’s what you mean. Essentially, at 13-years old. Still very young for development purposes where 16-18 are the critical years.

US women were doing so much better with many different avenues/options to the top. Now it will be a more closed system with politics like the boys side.

Sounds like it will be the only club in the entire area that eventually has a FULL Boy's DA plus a FULL Girl's DA.

No one else is trying that.

BTW, my DD has no idea to be a "lemming" going to Arlington.

They don’t have full DA. They have pre-DA. Only DCU has full DA.

You can sell anything to parents. This is just like the “elite, elite, leagues” in new packaging. Just keep changing the name of shot and parents get all excited.

Exactly!! I keep asking why are the girls following the boys model when it clearly hasn’t been working. Are the women hoping NOT to qualify for the World Cup in the future?

It’s not DA or ENCL. it’s not. It’s not leagues. We are taking about 11-13 year old girls with this pre-DA. Development. The games don’t matter.

Doesn't this "not working for boys" has something to do with the fact that unlike some American sports, in soccer you actually have to compete with the rest of the world?

Well the girls side has had much more international success in the past than the boys side, somehow without the DA. Now they get to be just like the boys side. That’s unfortunate. Just my opinion.

How did they magically come up with field space?? Kids were already having to leave elementary school early and practice on a 1/4 of fields.

Well, I have yet to see a formal announcement. I saw a prediction, but no formal announcement that it is a done deal to date.

I wouldn't believe anything about a U16-17 split until you see it. Thats what they said last year, that it would be split for 2018-2019, If they want to be a pyramid, they will keep the ages together

Most girls want to play HS soccer still. ENCL has the advantage there. DA won’t allow it.

ASA sent out an email announcing the news.

Also, DD’s coach said that a few more grass fields have opened up.

You didn't get the email I saw. They are the only ones "trying" this. Call it whatever you prefer, but they have the last two age groups to add on both the boys and girls side, so I don't trivialize it as much.

Other clubs, McLean, VDA, threw in the towel on boys and girls DA respectively. They are going the other way.

As I said, my DD is not doing DA or ECNL anyway. And Spirit has a FULL DA as well!

So 95% of the Club will get f@cked while ASA focuses on their DA.

Grass fields? It won’t be DA playing on grass. ASA has no nice grass fields with proper drainage. Is this Fields Park?

The regular Club teams in the Club get the shaft for ego-building.
