Cast of Hamilton makes statement to Pence at the end of the show.

The point was to deflect from the Trump U settlement and the atrocious appointments.. Mission Accomplished.

After a grueling long week of work, the poor guy just wanted to enjoy some "arts" and relax. Instead he got treated with some political BS. They ought to refund his tickets.

If he doesn't want "political BS," would he have been a member of Congress, the Governor of Indiana, and the Vice President-elect? The guy doesn't know how to do anything besides "political BS."

That's his day job. No matter how much he loves his job, he needs to unwind. Can't liberals be a little respectful and give him a break on Friday night?

Not a chance. They're relentless haters, 24/7.
Trump is smart to be in NYC, as much as possible.

"Unwind"? Are you f'n kidding me? Heading a presidential transition team isn't a 9 to 5 endeavor when you've got 70 days and are just getting around to meeting with pivotal departments like State and Defense. It's an embarrassing disgrace.

Even David Axelrod said the Trump team is ahead of schedule.

There's a whole other thread here comparing the two transitions. There's no comparison.

They had a job to do - entertain.
They failed at that by feeling the need to deliver a partisan political message.

Which part of that message was partisan? That was a direct statement of their feelings and fears to the man who has been elected vice president.

They didn't challenge his legitimacy. They didn't refuse to perform while he was in the audience.

They did their job, and at the end of the show they used their opportunity to ask him to make sure the administration he is a part of represents them, as well.

Did they deliver the same message to Hillary when she was in attendance? No?
It was a partisan message. And, not appropriate.

+1 Did they question HRC's decision to use a private email server putting all Americans at risk?

Seriously, this a cast of a show that people pay over $1000 a seat for the show. Not exactly the people that voted for Trump. And you wonder why your candidate lost the election.

Intermission here at the Fairfax Symohony. Evening began with National Anthem followed by brilliant pianist joining orchestra for Brahms piano concerto no 1 in D minor, op 15. No political statements yet but I have my eye on the bassoonist.

Wish I were there--love that concerto!

I don't know what's weirder about this--that republicans are complaining about people having wealth, or that the son of a millionaire who has lived in luxury his entire life is their guy, when somehow people who splurge in theater tickets are all that is wrong with America. You just sound like tantruming toddlers, not people who actually care about anything.

I realized tonight that Donald Trump = Henry Wilcox from E.M. Forster's Howards End. He is full of bluster and a failure to connect that the faults he finds in others, he is full of himself. He castigates another man for having an affair, yet he has had affairs himself. He gives bad financial advice that ruins others, then says he is not responsible. His life is lived on the surface, never diving behind the "wall of newspapers and motorcars and golf clubs" behind which lies nothing but "panic and emptiness."

Donald Trump just spent the full election cycle making fun of people for bad reasons: women, Muslims, vets, etc. This speech was respectful, cordial, and earnest -- for Trump to call it "harassment" is the height of hypocrisy and a total failure to connect his own acts to the rest of the world. Just like Henry Wilcox.

The theater apparently is supposed to be a safe space for bigots and creationists who oppose public funding for the arts.

+1.

It was actually very interesting to hear what privileged one percenters had to say.

If Trump and Pence can't take it, they can fund a special production of Waiting for Godot starring Scott Baio and Ted Nugent.

These people have no idea of the struggles that made people think Trump was the only way out.

Now I would pay to see that! (As long as the money went to a worthy cause.)
