Made up names just to be abnoxious or names with puncuation in them: D'Andre, D'Wayne, L-A (seriously pronounced la dash uh) REALLY???
Anyone named after a car, jewlery, or something I can pick up at a pwan shop- Domonique

I swear all the kids in my nieces class have car names - Mercedes, Bently, Lexus, Infiniti (3 boys!)
All we need is a Dodge and a Ford and I can open my own carmax.

Naming all your kids (not even twins) variations of the same name: Keyonni & Keyon, Mikaylah/Mikenna, Carolyn/Marilyn, Kylee/Rylee

You do want your kids to get a job don't you. C'mon!!

I need help getting a few points about names:

I don't get naming your children names of things, professions, hobbies... Would someone enlighten me? Why call a child Hunter? Armstrong? Case?

Also why name your children after a season, month or colour? Summer (seriously?) Violet (WTH?) June (LOL)

Oh and let's not forget honoring not very nice people... Calling your child Saul, Jezebel? Nero? OMG! Next people will be naming their LO Hitler!

And a last note: If you don't belong to a certain race, ethnicity or place please do your research before borrowing a name in a language you're not familiar with!

So the original is OK and a great way to honor you child, but everyone else is mostly naming their kids after the car so my point is still valid.

Anonymous wrote:Funny that my name and my sister's name is on here but my kids, who have fairly common names, are not. Neither of us have ever liked our names so who knows what our parents were smoking in the late 60's/early 70's!

PP with the Sanskrit first name here. . .I also hate, HATE my first name. It has been a PIA my entire life and I'm still a little angry at my parents for giving it to me. Food for thought for those giving their kids hard to pronounce/spell ancient Gaelic names. . .

Besides the previously posted obnoxious made up names, the Graydon/Grayson/Jayden/Payton and McKenna/Mckenzie/Mkayla names, I also hate old lady names like these:Eleanor, Ruth, Edith, Dorothy

And old man names like these: Walter, Henry, Hank

And hillbilly names like Jaimie Lyn, Ashlyn, Annabelle, Billy Ray, Britteny Ann, etc.

Is your Grayson a boy or girl? I just met a baby girl named Grayson.

I bet the name Grayson originally came from a little boy whose father was named Gray - son of Gray = Grayson. So naming a little girl Grayson is weird, at best.

I actually don't mind when people name their children after something of significance - whether it is the season they are born in, favorite color, family name, or whatever. At least it has some meaning for the family. Most cultures pick names of some meaning, rather than inventing names because they sound pretty. I'd take a Summer or Autumn or May over a Jayden/Zayden/Hayden/Vayden any day.

Dislike Caden/Cayden/Kaden very much...

I don't mind Mercedes but I don't think of the car. I think boho European.

There is also Fia an Kia

Nothing wrong with them either. In some langauges they drop the 'h' in the name
I even have a Fanny in my family tree.

Some spanish people object to names like Marika, Melina, Uno etc

You can't be serious. I'm not the PP but Ashlyn is about the most WT name I can think of, except maybe Brooklyn.

Pascal is also a computer programming language named after Blaise Pascal, the French mathematician/philosopher.
