Political Discussion
What’s the Obama corporate bailout? You mean TARP which was passed by Bush after we nearly entered the 2nd Great Depression again under Bush? How is it you skipped over 2000-2008? |
It's not about "being loved by the GOP" - to many of them it's a mix of fun and games and feeling disaffected. Those going through the pandemic during school were in some ways particularly hard hit by it. They are young, they lack life experience, they don't understand how things affect people, discrimination and so on. They get sucked into online discussion forums, some of which are toxic. They are lied to and told that undeserving, unqualified immigrants and minorities are getting ahead in life at their expense. They are taught to be resentful of others. They are fine with having fun at others' expense because they don't fully understand how it harms people. They join in with others doing it, it's a social thing. They are taught that the system is rigged against them, which isn't entirely wrong, but they are taught to be nihilistic about it, and to adopt a "burn it all down" attitude. They didn't vote for Trump because they think Republicans love them, they did it because they thought it was an "f u" move, they thought it was funny, and being "based" wasn't about actually winning, being loved, or coming out ahead, they want to feel like they've stuck it to the system. This is my understanding, based on conversations with my own son, who found himself in it for a while, but came back out of it. He's always been a kind, intelligent and thoughtful kid, saw the "system is broken" part of it and identified with that, but ultimately was turned off by the Trumpy rancor and racism and pulled himself back to reality. |
That's all just part of the Republican playbook. Republicans break things, Dems fix it, but then the Republicans shift the blame onto the Democrats. Rinse and repeat. |
| False premise. |
Democrats don't care, no matter how many thinkpieces come out. They're gonna act oblivious when Vance is elected as well. |

We don't have to like young men, or deliver for them, we just have to learn to message to them better.
I for one don't particularly like young men. I don't particularly want them to have an easy time buying a house if it means the price of my house goes down. My house is my biggest investment and I've been paying into it for 22 years. I don't particularly want them to have amazing career opportunities if it means I get pushed into retirement before I'm ready just to "make room" for them. And I definitely don't want young men to have amazing career opportunities at the expense of my daughters. Does either party really want to help young people? Not really. Donors are old. Voters are old. We have different interests than 25 year old boys do. Everyone always says "it's not a zero sum game." And maybe it isn't in the very long term. But in the short term it sometimes is a zero sum game. Young men are being disadvantaged so that young women and older folks can be a little bit advantaged. That's reality. But I don't think the boxing out of young men is particularly a Democrat vs Republican thing. It's more an older establishment against young upstarts thing. So we should let the young men rage, but we need to steer the rage. They should rage against Trump for using them, for betraying them. They should rage a litttle bit at the establishment for holding them down. But we shouldn't let them rage against Democrats or wokeism. That's just silly. We're not the cause of their problems. It shouldn't even be that hard to break them out of this stupid propaganda that Republicans are macho. Have they met DC Republicans? The Marlboro Man they ain't. |
| It is all about sex. Conservative women are hotter. Conservative men get laid more than liberal man. Left men will disagree with this because no one wants to f them unless it is another man or ugly women. |
In a way, upper middle class Democrats will enjoy being "the principled opposition," the out-of-power minority party. The more middle- and working-class people gravitate toward Republicans, the richer and classier the average Democrat remaining becomes. More and more, Democrats vote how they vote and think how they think because of status-seeking and status-signaling games. It's easier to play those games when you don't have to campaign at every poor black church in the South. Increasingly, dcurbanmom types are the core of the Party. This is hurting us with independent voters, but it's helping us become the powerful central force among Democrats. |
It feels like female dating preferences have gone through a bit of a cycle. In some ways they never change, but in other ways...it feels like there was a period when liberal women did consistently reward liberal men with sex for having the right views about women's empowerment, abortion, etc. And that period is now ebbing away. Enough women have started admitting that liberal men are a little creepy and may be faking some of their beliefs. And these same liberal women have been confessing throughout the Trump era that sometimes they are horrified by their own attraction to conservative men. Covid was a bit of a turning point. On average, liberal men were germophobes and highly-compliant mask weenies, while conservative men seemed more independent and unafraid. #metoo was also a turning point, when it turned out that the pushy creeps were a lot less likely to be Marlboro Men and a lot more likely to be a liberal magazine editor. Anyway, bottom line is that the romantic penalty for being a conservative man has declined and now it has reversed. Now conservative men have a better chance of attracting a liberal woman than most liberal men do. So men are voting with their feet and switching parties. |
Hilarious. I don't know of any liberal incels. That's a conservative guy thing, direct outcome of not getting laid. That's where so much of the right wing anger and inadequacy and compensation (oversized trucks etc) comes from. The only people impressed by ridiculous lifted trucks and noisy motorcycles are other guys. Women could give a shit. |
LMAO sure sure keep telling yourself these fairy tales. Conservative men are the biggest snowflakes out there, afraid of vaccines, afraid of little mexican guys, getting offended if someone says "Happy Holidays." They are completely pathetic, and afraid of everything. |
| Because the vast majority of us aren’t the cucks you think us to be! |
This is awesome! This guy sounds quite butch. I like it. |
This is a good point. Liberal men do tend to get more action than conservative men because there's more promiscuity on the left. But liberal women tend to remain single instead of getting married, also because there's more promiscuity on the left. |
Trump is polling at 40%, Vance, Groypers etc will be lucky if they can even get half that. That's not "oblivious" - that's awareness of ground reality. Good luck. Honestly, I hope you run with that strategy, because your loss will be epic. |
