Quick google search confirms this is mostly true : USL-Y geographic rules While the USL Youth League (USL-Y) does not grant exclusive territories to clubs, there are rules governing where teams operate to prevent oversaturation in certain areas. Key Geographic Rules While no club has exclusive territory rights, the league requires approval for all practice and competition sites. Clubs must operate within a reasonable proximity of their primary facility. The league can reject facilities to prevent oversaturation in certain areas. Travel expectations vary by division, but games are typically within a 30-90 minute drive, though some travel to neutral sites may be required. Examples of USL-Y teams in Northern Virginia include Northern Virginia Soccer Club and Virginia Valor FC, which centralize their activities in local areas like McLean and Centreville. |
| Loudoun and VRSC just joined USL-Y too so would be crazy if they approved another NoVa club but who knows. If they are posting it on their website it must be official? (RBFC I Mean) |
| USL-Y does not care about market saturation LOL! They will happily take your fees. |
| And they let clubs have more than one team... this is hilarious to think they would turn away a team. |
| Okay, but that doesn't answer the question if this is official or not? |
|
Its literally the only piece of real information on their entire website, so my guess is that its confirmed.
If they made it up, they would have made up a bunch of other crap too. |
| Yeah seems like USL-Y would allow it for sure but how easily are you going to pull kids from the established teams is a better question. I guess this is the question surrounding everything about this new club though. |
Sorta. Just says there are tryouts. Doesn't say when or who is coaching. VRSC, GFR and other clubs already have their tryouts posted. |
For Super Y summer teams or for next year's teams? |
super y |
| Where is Riverbend posting anything of relevance? Their website looks pretty bare bones still. |
| It's still a mystery.... |
Clarification - Loudoun Soccer Club has had USL-Y for years. Loudoun United (the semi-pro team which is owned by VRSC or something like that) just joined. So basically VRSC with a fancy Loudoun United name. SYC also just joined. |
| And GFR also has Super Y teams, right? |
Yes, they already have tryouts scheduled and registration opened |
