They will all transfer once Freeman heads for the NFL getting the heck out of South Bend, IN.

Agree that if HC Freeman leaves, so will the recruits & returnees.

But, what good does it do for Notre Dame to have stellar recruiting classes if ND football cannot beat top teams and plays an overwhelmingly mediocre schedule ?

The two losses were by a total of 4 points to top teams. ND won every single other game by a huge margin.

ND played and beat Penn State, Georgia, and Indiana during the CFP earlier this year and late last year. You people have very short memories.

Why is it that ND fans have trouble understanding that the CFP is for the 2025-2026 season?

The point is that ND is on an upward trajectory and has the talent of a championship team. They will continue to get better and will be in the CFP for sure next season. Go Irish!!!!!

Nah. 40 years they've been saying this. yawn.

ND is starting to sound like the Texas Aggies now: no self-awareness, generally cringe, belief in their self-induced cultish hype.

Big 12 Commissioner calls out ND. "It's been egregious going after Jim Phillips, when they saved Notre Dame during COVID..."

Bad Pub keeps coming ND's way.

That’s Longhorns, not Aggies, fighting words to call UT the Aggies for A&M fans.

I bet they miss the CFP next year.

10/31 - vs Navy (in Foxborough, MA)
11/07 - Miami (FL)
11/21 - Boston College
TBA - SMU
TBA - Stanford
TBA - at Syracuse
TBA - vs USC

This is embarrassing. Why does ND need a Top 10 recruiting class to play this schedule? This is a Group of 5 one.

First of all, they are required to play 5 ACC games every year. So not sure what they could do to change that.

Second, they play Navy, USC and Stanford every year. That makes 8 games out of the 12.

Third, the rest of the games are scheduled may years in advance. There is no way to know what these teams will be like so far in advance.

Do they play a SEC like schedule? Of course not. They never did and they don't have to. Despite that, they destroyed Indiana, Penn State, and Georgia in the playoffs less than a year ago.

Then Notre Dame football should share an a part of any CFP or post-season bowl appearances with the ACC and with the Big Ten if ND football keeps relying on these two conferences in order to have a full schedule which lets ND football remain relevant in the world of big-time college football.

The other option is for ND football "to put a ring on it" if they want to continue enjoying the benefits of the ACC & the Big Ten.

And if Notre Dame wants more money, then let the Notre Dame's first team play in the Big Ten Conference while the back-ups play in the ACC.

Even worse 😄

It is not about arrogance or independence per se. It is all about money. The networks court Notre Dame because they bring a large fan base- a very large fan base, and that impacts ratings and thus marketing dollars. Notre Dame would like to keep more of those finances in house.

Wow! Scary that a current commissioner is so ignorant of their own history. Not surprising for a sub par conference.
The PAC 12 crumbled after Covid and the Big 12 has yet to recover. After spending most of the March 2020 lock down (they probably saw more of each other than they did of their families) with the commissioners of the Big 12, Mountain West, and Jack Swarbrick,- Greg Sankey slithered in and poached Oklahoma and Texas A &M from the Big 12. They were building the current CFP structure.

It is in fact true that ND saved college football during Covid.
Don’t believe me? Here you go:

So funny watching the mommy blog pretend they have even the most cursory understanding of college football.
You all are even worse at this than you are at understanding the admissions process and the proper context of where your precious snowflakes belong.
Would be hysterical if it weren’t so pathetic.

Wow..you are really drinking the Kool Aid aren't you.

Wow, you all have NO idea of how and when football schedules are built.
Further complicating things, many are still reciprocal makeups from the Covid era. For example, Arkansas was very talented when they and Notre Dame were supposed to complete their “home and home” scheduling agreement. Not so much this year when they managed to complete it.
The same will probably be true when Wisconsin and ND play Labor Day weekend versus back when originally scheduled.

Haven’t been on here in months and now I remember why. Has the whole place been taken over by bored teenagers ?
The entire picture is usually more nuanced and complicated than most people on here understand.
But why should I expect this topic to be different than any others on DCUM.
