And now the Kennedy Center

"After President Trump put his name on the Kennedy Center, several performers canceled their productions. Now, a source familiar with the center's programming tells Dana Bash the performing arts center didn't have enough programming for the 2026-2027 season."

Kid Rock can only perform so many times.

Q: Do you plan on tearing the Kennedy Center down and how much will all of the renovations cost?

TRUMP: Probably around $200 million. I'm not ripping it down. I'll be using the steel. So we're using the structure. We're using some of the marble.

I mean, they just did a $250M renovation. This is such BS.

For his Arc. He will be destroying the Kennedy Center to build his Arc d’Trump. He absolutely cannot stand the fact that Kennedy is honored with the Kennedy Center, so he will destroy to build something in his own name.

Quick reminder that there is actual legislation that dictates what can be done with the Kennedy Center: the JFK Center Act. The name is set by federal statute, so changes typically require an act of Congress. Major shutdowns or extensive renovations often need congressional approval for funding and oversight.

Key Provisions of the JFK Center Act:

*Setup & Name: Bureau of Smithsonian; named "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts" as national memorial to JFK (sole one in D.C.); changes require Congress.

*Board: Oversees ops, programs, maintenance; includes presidential appointees, Congress members, etc.

*Duties/Powers: Promote arts; manage site/events; accept gifts; major renos/expansions need congressional approval/funding.

*Funding: Annual appropriations for ops/maintenance/capital; big projects via Congress.

Someone needs to sue the Trump administration on behalf of the Kennedy Center.

They need to sue ASAP and get an injunction. Trump will bring the sledgehammers before you know it.

It’s an interesting tactic to employ when you realize no artists or patrons want to come to your event(s). It’s pathetic.

If you can knock down the White house, the Kennedy Center is for sure fine

This is what I don't understand: why doesn't anyone ever sue him directly? He's ready to sue Jimmy Kimmel and Trevor Noah and now is suing HIS OWN DOJ due to tax records etc. Why doesn't someone with standing (Kennedy family, Dem congressmen/women etc.) sue him for illegal defacement of building and get injunction to prevent renovations?

I mean, if nobody is going to perform at the Kennedy Center and nobody is going to buy any tickets, can they really afford to leave it open?

The issue isn't that it will be closed -- it's what he plans to do with it. He's talking about using the steel girders, suggesting he plans to tear it down.

I think we all knew this was the plan all along, right?

I feel sorry for all of the workers who are losing their jobs. Trump started this dumpster fire but all the people proudly canceling shows and refusing to attend are causing workers to lose their jobs.

No, this admin has done this. You can’t compel people to perform for the dictator without consequences.
