If it was just a few minutes it wouldn't be an issue. My son arrived at South Lakes at 7:50 this morning and hadn't made it inside the building at 8:40. Class started at 8:10. |
This. Same for my kids~they arrived at school 20 mins early. That should be sufficient. |
And that's if you have control over it. If FCPS can't get the buses there in time to make it through the line, then they didn't plan this correctly. Failures at literally everything! |
There is not much you can do as a bus rider with regards to arriving earlier. |
Yes there was a student fight/stabbing there a year or two ago and I’m pretty sure that’s what kicked off the push for metal detectors. |
| The line to get in from the buses was over an hour. The buses all dump the kids off at pretty much the same exact time. |
| What is the process to removing those responsible for this mess including the superintendent and those that approved the procurement? On the procurement end how much did this cost FCPS? |
| Has anyone found a binder with plastic rings? |
FWIW, DD takes composition notebooks when needed, and an accordion type folder. Those can usually accommodate 7 classes worth of material, and she transfers them to binders at home, when they fill up. |
How does this make anyone safer? |
| Sounds like they're just going to need to buy a lot more metal detectors and open up a lot more entrances at schools in the a.m. to get kids in on time. |
That sounds like a lot more money and people. They don't have either. |
I'll rather they spend money on hiring and retaining good teachers instead |
You mean you don't want more positions at Gatehouse
|
They can't get more kids in the door in time for class to start. They'd rather have kids outside the school every day for an hour? That doesn't make sense either. If the priority is to have metal detectors then they're going to have to have enough to get kids in the building. Or get rid of the metal detectors. Or only screen random kids. |
