| Yeah pathetic. Just close the WL and if you get hit by melt make it up next year. |
| What is pathetic is the amount of people they stuff on these things. WLs are ridiculously over filled to the point of absurdity. Certainly not just Dartmouth or ivies that do this. |
Agree, but think it’s better off that way as everyone should truly move on and easier to do that way versus a smaller list looking more achievable. Some win, vast majority don’t. |
| Full post of the Dartmouth update over at reddit. Looks pretty normal. Class is full but we may make offers, no deferrals for any WL offers. etc. |
YES. Dartmouth took 1% of the waitlisted kids last year. 1%. Closed or not, it ain't happening. |
You're the one spreading misinformation. 2024 973 off or 5% 2023 955 off or 5% 2022 77 off or <1% 2021 68 off or <1% I said Two of the last 4 years had <100 kids admitted off the waitlist. This is 100% true. And how is even 5% off in 2023 and 2024 "a common occurrence?" |
Actually Ivies cap their WL. Ivies do not have big WLs. They have in the low hundreds to at most 1,000. They do not carry large WL compared to other schools and they go to them much less frequently. Cornell has the biggest WL of the 8, but it also has 17,000 undergrads vs the 4k-6k of the other 7. Compare that to schools with 10k, 20k WL. UCLA had 18,000 on their WL. |
Get a grip. Taking OVER 1,000 students off of the waitlist is an enormous amount, even for a university as large as Michigan. 1,000 students is 66% of Harvard's ENTIRE freshmen class. |
Agree, it’s a lot. It’s fair to have a little hope there. |
sure, but 95-99% don't get off.
|
They are being fully transparent. What is the problem? |
| Dartmouth offered 2500+- WL spots last year-- That is more than total acceptances. |
Yep, they admitted 1,600 and waitlisted 2,500. That is just them being a$$holes to 17 and 18 year old kids. There is.no reason to do that. |
| Harvard admitted someone off the waitlist over on College Confidential. |
| Seeing Harvard WL movement on reddit. Anyone here get a call? |
