The plane was landing towards the pentagon? |
Congress member Swalwell landed there six minutes before the flight that crashed. |
Yep and told we all suck and are worthless … |
One of the flights congress demanded—even though it is already overcrowded at National |
Yes. They can’t be inbound over the pentagon. They can only land one direction on that runway. And same with takeoffs in reverse. You can’t fly over the pentagon. |
DCA has indeed the busiest runway in the us. |
Yes, if you look at the airport it is the short runway pointing at the Pentagon. So to approach it, you swing further east than the more common approach up the river. But it’s hard for me to imagine that could have been a factor. It’s not like they never use that runway. |
Agree. |
In the 24 hours news world, I’m sure they’ve covered everything else already today. If it bleeds, it leads. |
Dulles and BWI already exist as bigger airports further away from the city. DCA will never close. The House and Senate members depend on its convenience. |
Published almost exactly a year ago.
“ runway [WASHINGTON D.C., JANUARY 25, 2024] – Despite what the facts make clear, reckless efforts to add more flights at the overburdened Reagan National Airport (DCA) will cause more delays and threaten passenger safety. Physically constrained by the Potomac River on one side and bustling neighborhoods and federal buildings on another, DCA tops the list of America’s 10 busiest commercial runways with no room to grow and accommodate any additional flights. Today, DCA already serves nine million more passengers than it was designed to handle. More flights would put additional pressure on DCA’s main runway, as its second shorter runway is not designed to accommodate larger airplanes. Capacity constraints are further exasperated by ongoing runway rehabilitation projects at DCA which are expected to resume in the spring of 2024 and may impact certain flights to DCA.” https://www.protectregionalairports.com/2024/01/26/dca-is-still-the-busiest-runway-in-the-nation/ |
