Trump today and MAGA still claiming Harris never worked at McDonald’s

Early in my career (as a lawyer) I mentioned this in an interview when I was asked about work ethic -- I said I'd been working since I was 14 and had a strong drive to work and do my job well no matter what it was. They asked for examples of the kind of work I'd done as a teen and I mentioned working the drive thru at Sonic along with babysitting and working as a receptionist in a law office.

One of the women interviewing me said "do you have evidence of these jobs? How do we know you actually did this stuff?" I was a bit taken aback because the idea of lying in an interview was very foreign to me -- I'm from a religious middle class midwestern family and that honestly had never occurred to me.

I got the job and later realized after working with that woman that the reason she didn't believe me is that she was from a very privileged coastal upbringing and the idea of having a kind of menial low-wage job as a teen sounded made up to her -- something a character in a novel would do but not something actual people did in real life.

A lot of elites (like Trump) are really sheltered and don't realize how much other people work. I've had literally dozens of jobs in my life. I've never not worked except my first year of law school when I wasn't allowed to. People from money and who have parents who don't believe kids should work at all don't understand.

Anyway I 100% believe Harris worked at a McDonald's as a teen. That's a very typical job for someone with her background who needs cash -- easy to get with steady hours and if you have a decent attitude it's not a terrible job.

She had a job application out of college that said list all jobs and this was left out. She claimed she was working the job while in college. Lately on the campaign trail she has shifted to talking about her husband winning employee of the month at McDonalds.

If you are trying to be taken seriously, for a professional job, it is not unusual to leave off part-time service jobs…like Life-guarding, dog walking, babysitting. They are not relevant after you have a college degree.

You toadies love spinning. Summer of sophomore year in college is not ancient history. It’s a pivotal year. And gunner strivers all list service jobs because it’s an endearing hook.

These days it is. Back then it absolutely was not. All too often it was taken as a sign that you might not be a “good fit.”

Do you not remember how clubby and patrician so many white collar jobs were?

So our choices are a serial lying con man vs a serial lying con woman. How inspiring.

False equivalency, and we all know it. Nobody even knows the last time Trump said something that was both informed and true.

Yet we're to believe the first thing Harris did in California was disregard her and her mom's Hindu faith and go work a servant job serving up beef burgers and fries cooked in beef tallow? If the family finances were so dire in California, why did she transfer to an expensive private college on the other side of the country? A 20 year old university student with an upper caste academic mom working a servant labor job around flunkies and high school kids sounds far fetched.

And if the McDonald's job self-funded the private Howard education and flights home, she'd be proud of it and have evidence of the gig. She would have quickly received promotions. The franchise owner and McDonald's corporate would be tripping over themselves to prove this.

Employment. Records. Are. Typically. Tossed. After. Three. Years.

McDonald's corporate boasts about each and every famous person who worked there going back to the 1950s and 60s. Kamala Harris is the only famous person ever in which literally zero proof exists she ever ate there, let alone worked there in the 80s. Please stop digging this hole. She lied. She got caught. The end.

From the New York Times:

Ms. Harris’s campaign said that she was an employee of the McDonald’s on Central Avenue in Alameda, Calif., in 1983 during the summer after her freshman year at Howard University, working the cash register, french-fry station and ice cream machine. It has provided little information beyond that, including how long she worked there. She also mentioned her job at McDonald’s when she ran for president in 2019.

So.... she worked there during a summer break. For 4 months.

I worked at an AMC Theater and do have pictures, because the high school yearbook came and photographed us (I got a lot of my friends jobs there).

Otherwise, I would not have photos of the job from 1977. Now my friends could vouch for me for that job.

But I worked a job in college for 8 months.... I could not name any of those people, and would have no proof I worked there. I did not take pictures. It was in a copy center. I don't have paystubs or any other proof, either.

This. I worked a retail store 25 years ago and cannot name the people I worked with. Doubt they could name me. Stood at the cash register, did my job, went home.

If you become one of the most famous persons in the world, all of your co-workers, managers, and store owner would come forward.

I worked in 7 restaurants and nightclubs between 1988-1990. I can’t name one person I worked with. Not one. I also have zero photos of me at any one of these places. This is normal life before cell phones and social media.

I have to say President Trump just won the election with the McDonald’s photo opportunity. Was the McD closed, were the customers fake, did the McD fail its last health inspection, did President Trump violate health standards?

Who cares. What matters is that President Trump has gotten news networks to report Kamala is lying about working at McDonald’s. I love it.

President Trump can lie because he does so to get important issues before America, and because we know he puts America first. So he’s earned creative license to tell a story. But Kamala has an African father and an Indian mother and grew up in Montreal so is she even ELIGIBLE to run for President? Do we even know who she is? Could she be a foreign agent who deposed Biden.

President Trump is recording who supports Kamala because they could also be foreign agents. We can’t take a chance on this woman. President Trump is the only choice in this election, unless you’re thinking of choosing Jill Stein because you like Kamala more than Trump but she’s not perfect then you should vote for Jill.

I care. Trump lied about the very thing that he falsely accused Kamala Harris doing. And anyone in the media going along with this charade is not worth paying attention to. The media wants to even things up because they think a neck-in-neck horse race will sell copy but all they are doing is alienating their subscribers.

This whole incident is just more proof that MAGAs are a bunch of silver-spoon nepo-toads who have never had a real minimum wage job punching a time card.

I worked at Disneyland at a fast food restaurant in the early 90s in high school. Did about 15 hours per week for a year. I do not know the name of a single person I worked with. And nor would any of them remember me. I have no photos of me in one of those god awful uniforms. No W2s or taxes from when I was 16.

Only rich kid nepo-toads who never held a real job would be unfamiliar with this set of facts, or demand proof (that doesn't exist). If they had jobs, it was at their dad's Ford dealership or babysitting for family friends. Not real jobs where you had a mean supervisor, punched a time card, and/or got sexually harassed by older colleauges or customers.

That's the tell in this whole debacle - Trump and his country club circle have never worked a day in their lives at a tough minimum wage job.

I am the same age as Harris. I have kids who are college age or slightly older currently.

There is no equating the experience in the 1980's with today where jobs, summer jobs, internships and for those who go, college employment and pathways to post college jobs are concerned. Everyone I know, me included, who went to college, had "menial" jobs during college and during summers. Maybe there were Wall street type things, I don't know, but for average college students in the 1980's, you worried about your post college job search during senior year.

Who was the book publisher where this lie was first published? Why didn’t they vet it? Had they had, a single alleged distance call from Kamala’s dead mom in Northern California to her Montreal grade school friend would not have made it past any legal team.

Everything Trump says is such a blatant lie that only idiots believe him. Everything Trump does is such a blatant fraud that only idiots believe him. There are a lot of idiots in the U.S. but there also are many people who know that Trump is a liar and a fraud yet support him anyway. They are sociopaths and are much more dangerous than the idiots.

You forgot Kamala’s plagiarism scandal, declaration that the Covid vaccine developed in Trump’s term would be unsafe, her coverup of Biden’s cognitive decline and more. Don’t pretend.

-Plagiarism was sloppy writing for sure
-Her words were "“I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump” on the reliability of a vaccine, Harris said. The California senator, however, added that she would trust a “credible” source who could vouch that a vaccine was safe for Americans to receive."
For the record, I agree with her words.
-Do you get as mad about Vance covering up Trump's cognitive decline? I mean, it is obvious at this point.

Agree as well. Kamala's position on the vaccines is being grossly distorted and misrepresented by the PP. And the cover-up of Trump's mental deterioration is completely unaccaptable.

They aren't covering up Trump's mental state. It is all there for us to see. The MAGAs are simply ignoring it.

I wonder how and why any of this matters. We know Trump is a shit person. Harris might be a shit person. So if you think she is also one, then the alternative is a shit person. Ultimately people should be voting on what either presidency means concretely rather than on the person per se. Most politicians are not wonderful human beings.

It doesn't matter, but the right uses it to deflect and obfuscate.

The entire McDonald's ploy is to basically to try to bring Harris down to the level of Trump among gullible undecided voters - "Well, they are both dishonest..." - even if Harris did work at McDonald's.

It's negative partisanship.

That's a really strange retort. On-brand for MAGA I guess...
