Trump today and MAGA still claiming Harris never worked at McDonald’s

Except Trump didn't work at a McDonalds. He went to a McDonalds that was closed for business during his visit, where he did some cosplay and play-acted working, with actors pretending to be customers.

It's comical that you claim (without evidence) that Kamala Harris lied about working at a McDonalds, yet here we now have proof that Trump claims to have now worked at a McDonalds except it's a lie and he only pretended to work at one, given it was closed for business and only had fake customers. Seems like a backfire to any thinking person.

The evidence is that McDonald’s has no records of her working there and no one has come forward to say they worked with her.

That’s lack of evidence, not evidence.

can you say why? A serious question because it’s not clear to me why people see this as a great stunt.

Maybe I would feel differently if he’d put in an actual shift, with real customers. But nothing about this was working. Surely anyone who has ever held a job like this can see that.

Just because a kid wears a hat that says “principal for a day” and makes a few announcements over the PA system doesn’t actually mean she’s in charge of the school.

I just genuinely don’t get this one and am trying to understand what people are seeing and celebrating here.

Not PP but I'll answer:

-- Hyper viral with billions of total views across social media, articles, and TV news. Half of which are seething libs boosting it because they're jealous of how brilliant the stunt was.

-- All-time 10/10 campaign optics. It's hilarious. It's endearing. The still photos look like A.I. they're so perfect.

-- Kicker for good measure: Tars Harris as an elitist phony liar who has probably never eaten McDonald's, let alone worked at a McDonald's.

Well, I’m the PP, and I guess this is must all subjective, because I don’t see brilliance, hilarity, or anything endearing. Like I say, I see the equivalent of a child pretending. But okay, glad you are enjoying I guess.

No, it's normal that people don't remember. Nobody would remember her just as I and other PPs here are stating that they don't remember who they worked with at their college jobs and these aren't even jobs as far back in time as Kamala's job. And if someone I worked with became famous 40 years later, how the heck would I recognize them? Plus who knows who she worked with - maybe she was the only college kid and the others were in their 40s then so in their 80s now. Who the heck knows.

Early in my career (as a lawyer) I mentioned this in an interview when I was asked about work ethic -- I said I'd been working since I was 14 and had a strong drive to work and do my job well no matter what it was. They asked for examples of the kind of work I'd done as a teen and I mentioned working the drive thru at Sonic along with babysitting and working as a receptionist in a law office.

One of the women interviewing me said "do you have evidence of these jobs? How do we know you actually did this stuff?" I was a bit taken aback because the idea of lying in an interview was very foreign to me -- I'm from a religious middle class midwestern family and that honestly had never occurred to me.

I got the job and later realized after working with that woman that the reason she didn't believe me is that she was from a very privileged coastal upbringing and the idea of having a kind of menial low-wage job as a teen sounded made up to her -- something a character in a novel would do but not something actual people did in real life.

A lot of elites (like Trump) are really sheltered and don't realize how much other people work. I've had literally dozens of jobs in my life. I've never not worked except my first year of law school when I wasn't allowed to. People from money and who have parents who don't believe kids should work at all don't understand.

Anyway I 100% believe Harris worked at a McDonald's as a teen. That's a very typical job for someone with her background who needs cash -- easy to get with steady hours and if you have a decent attitude it's not a terrible job.

She had a job application out of college that said list all jobs and this was left out. She claimed she was working the job while in college. Lately on the campaign trail she has shifted to talking about her husband winning employee of the month at McDonalds.

If you are trying to be taken seriously, for a professional job, it is not unusual to leave off part-time service jobs…like Life-guarding, dog walking, babysitting. They are not relevant after you have a college degree.

Employment. Records. Are. Typically. Tossed. After. Three. Years.

McDonald's corporate boasts about each and every famous person who worked there going back to the 1950s and 60s. Kamala Harris is the only famous person ever in which literally zero proof exists she ever ate there, let alone worked there in the 80s. Please stop digging this hole. She lied. She got caught. The end.

From the New York Times:

Ms. Harris’s campaign said that she was an employee of the McDonald’s on Central Avenue in Alameda, Calif., in 1983 during the summer after her freshman year at Howard University, working the cash register, french-fry station and ice cream machine. It has provided little information beyond that, including how long she worked there. She also mentioned her job at McDonald’s when she ran for president in 2019.

So.... she worked there during a summer break. For 4 months.

I worked at an AMC Theater and do have pictures, because the high school yearbook came and photographed us (I got a lot of my friends jobs there).

Otherwise, I would not have photos of the job from 1977. Now my friends could vouch for me for that job.

But I worked a job in college for 8 months.... I could not name any of those people, and would have no proof I worked there. I did not take pictures. It was in a copy center. I don't have paystubs or any other proof, either.

This. I worked a retail store 25 years ago and cannot name the people I worked with. Doubt they could name me. Stood at the cash register, did my job, went home.

If you become one of the most famous persons in the world, all of your co-workers, managers, and store owner would come forward.

I worked in 7 restaurants and nightclubs between 1988-1990. I can’t name one person I worked with. Not one. I also have zero photos of me at any one of these places. This is normal life before cell phones and social media.

I have to say President Trump just won the election with the McDonald’s photo opportunity. Was the McD closed, were the customers fake, did the McD fail its last health inspection, did President Trump violate health standards?

Who cares. What matters is that President Trump has gotten news networks to report Kamala is lying about working at McDonald’s. I love it.

President Trump can lie because he does so to get important issues before America, and because we know he puts America first. So he’s earned creative license to tell a story. But Kamala has an African father and an Indian mother and grew up in Montreal so is she even ELIGIBLE to run for President? Do we even know who she is? Could she be a foreign agent who deposed Biden.

President Trump is recording who supports Kamala because they could also be foreign agents. We can’t take a chance on this woman. President Trump is the only choice in this election, unless you’re thinking of choosing Jill Stein because you like Kamala more than Trump but she’s not perfect then you should vote for Jill.

Exactly. A basic education would have told the PP that is the Argument From Ignorance fallacy--that the lack of evidence is somehow evidence. Doh.

Last week I found out that one of my close childhood friends went on to be the guitarist for a major, well-known heavy metal band with multiple gold records and awards. We ended up living in opposite parts of the country so didn't see much of each other in person over the years, and when we did, it didn't come up - and by his facebook page you'd never even know he was into heavy metal, since, it's all wholesome stuff like family picnics and family weddings and beach vacations with the kids, creative photography and nothing about his music career.

So even a "famous person" isn't necessarily going to be closely tracked by people they grew up with, much less worked with as a teenager one summer.

+1 I’m the PP who worked at Peoples - 35 years ago for way longer than one summer - and I can’t remember anyone’s first names except the manager, and I don’t remember his last name.

I worked in a supermarket deli during college. I remember:

- a guy who was a wrestler and talked about his workout a lot. He wasn’t very smart but his sister and mom often stopped by, and I thought that was sweet. I remember no names, or faces, but he had dark curly hair.

- a white woman with short-ish hair and glasses, she was the boss. A little humorless. Would have had a name like Deb or Tracey or Kelly but I’m not sure it was any of those things.

- a Latino man who had a wife and kids who came in from a long distance. Sometimes he spit in the food of customers who were rude. He quoted Andrew Dice Clay, which is how I first heard about him.

- the Pepsi guy. Stocked shelves. Bearded and slight. A little too flirty.

Any of these people could be senators now and I wouldn’t know it. If they remember me, I doubt it is as anything more specific than my memories of them.

But actually this is fun. Who did you work with at your temporary job 30+ years ago and what do you remember?

Is this just like how he won the Presidency because of the assassination attempt? The one in Pennsylvania where he got almost two full days of media cycle. Or when he went back for a rally and got a few hours of coverage? Nobody is voting for him because of his McDonald's stunt. He looked like a complete clown mocking the job.

I worked in several restaurants 30-35 years ago. I genuinely don't even remember the names of the restaurants (I would have if it was a McDonald's though) and certainly don't have any records.

You toadies love spinning. Summer of sophomore year in college is not ancient history. It’s a pivotal year. And gunner strivers all list service jobs because it’s an endearing hook.
