What if Biden does not bow out?

If Biden is not fit to serve as a candidate, how can he continue to serve as POTUS for the next six months? Obviously he can't. The Dem party would lose whatever credibility it has left.

So the new President would be VP Harris, right? Not so fast. She will immediately be in the midst of a scandal, since she has continuously lied to the American people about Biden's fitness to serve. As of today, she is sticking to that lie, and it would be incredibly hard for her to reverse course. ("gosh, I just took a closer look and noticed for the first time that he is failing.") So if Biden does step down and finally acknowledges his obvious unfitness, how does Harris explain her statements immediately following the June 27 debate that he is totally fine? I don't see how she does that without admitting that she lied through her teeth and put partisan politics ahead of National security by keeping an unfit President in office. And the Republicans in Congress will immediately convene hearings about "what did she know and when did she know it," because it appears that Biden has been declining for a long time, so Harris was part of a major cover-up for some portion of Biden's 3.5 years. (possibly Harris knew as early as 2020, which is why Biden never left his basement).

So for all the Dems calling for Biden to bow out of the race, please think a couple of moves ahead, and ask if that is what you really want. It could get way uglier than it is already!

As far as scandals go, this is incredibly low on the list. What else is she supposed to do? I don't think the American public cares that much. They might just be relieved to have someone younger than age 75 on the ballot.

willfully covering up that the Commander in Chief has major cognitive issues? c'mon man.

+1 that’s why the WH doctor (who also did business with Jim, Joe, and Hunter Biden and Americore, defrauding medicare to boot) won’t take an interview or answer questions from the press about Biden’s health.

Yeah, I bet that’s it. He’s in the Comet Ping Ping basement with George Soros mixing Biden’s next drug cocktail.

Trump can submit to an independent analysis of his physical and mental fitness or all this is just noise.

US looks vulnerable if we elect such an incompetent man

I’m (NC voter) leaning toward holding my nose and voting for Trump. I think we have to send a message to Biden, his yes men, and the DNC that they can’t shove an incompetent candidate down our throats.

I’m a registered Dem and leaning this way also.

I don't think voting for Trump is sending the message you think. Voting third party would be sending the message - although the third party candidates are a hot mess too.

This isn’t real. Absolutely no Democrat will pull the Trump lever, ever, after the Supreme Court and Project 2025 and J6. Ds just need to get out to vote and they have the numbers to win, and that’s why the Trumpies want this chaos and infighting. Biden already beat Trump once, he’ll do it again.

Wishful thinking. Nobody but the ideologues are voting for an 82 year old with rapidly declining cognitive abilities. It is obvious to everyone that Biden is not finishing a second term when he would be 86. He will clearly be incapacitated and incapable of managing the massive responsibilities of being president sooner rather than later.

Trump can still finish a sentence. And that alone is enough to win under these pathetic circumstances. Many otherwise reliable democrats will stay home rather than vote for a geriatric that belongs in a nursing home. Many will be resentful of the Democratic Party for putting the country in this position. And many will vote for Trump because Democrats didn't offer a viable alternative. No average American cares about J6. And only people lost deep into the recesses of the internet have even heard of project 2025.

The polling is terrible for Democrats. And it's only going to get worse.

No, Democrats are not voting for Trump. You’re wrong about people not knowing about Project 2025 and wrong about people not caring deeply about J6, the Supreme Court, etc. Trump is deeply unpopular with just about everyone outside the MAGAverse and push comes to shove they will vote against him rather than FOR someone else. And Trump has never been coherent or truthful, and that has always been clear. Biden on his worst day is better than Trump on his best day.

If Biden is incapacitated at any point after the election, we’re perfectly happy for Harris to assume her duties as President. That’s what she’s there for, per the Constitution.

You MAGAts want us to throw over Biden but we’re not falling for it. We can and will win.

As a conservative and an adamant voter against Biden, I am thankful for your stubbornness and your unfounded faith in the current White House resident and his sidekick.

Listen to you, “sidekick.” Please continue to be dismissive of women and POC. Fires us up. We love nothing more than MAGAts underestimating us.

NP. Only could see something racist and derogative in a simple word sidekick. The official definition of the word is "a person closely associated with another as a subordinate or partner" according to Merriam-Webster. Which describes the role of VP pretty well. If this is typical of what people like you think, then MAGA has nothing to worry about come November.

Republicans have had four years to find a younger candidate who ISN"T a twice-impeached convict who wants to emulate fascist dictatorships, but Dems are the ones with a "deep bench" problem.

Got it.

If you are born abroad from US citizen parents, the assumption is that you are natural-born, but there exists a slight doubt in the language of the 14th amendment.

MAGAs should do well to review their Constitution.

The parents of Kamala Harris were not foreign diplomats, and were not enemies of the US in a hostile takeover of US soil. They gave birth to her on US soil.

Therefore Kamala Harris is a natural born citizen. Furthermore, she is more than 35, has been a resident for more than 14 years, and therefore fulfills ALL of the requirements to be eligible to run for President of the United States.

As a republican, agree 100 percent. But remember we want Kamala. She is easy to defeat.

They had a real primary and the voters chose Trump. The Dems had a rigged primary that chased away anybody with a pulse. The debate showed us clearly which party had the correct approach.

+ 1 rigged elections seem to be a democrat specialty.

I voted for Biden in the primary and will vote for him in the election.

The sitting president of either party usually runs unopposed, as Trump did in 2020.

It isn't rigged when there is an incumbent president. When was the last time a party ran a serious challenge against an incumbent?

Maybe Teddy Kennedy in 1980?

There is a separate thread with a POLITICO investigative report about this exact issue. Biden Family and Kevin O’Connor did just that.

Biden is handing Trump an easy win. The Dems can only blame themselves and RBG for setting the standard for selfishness and not knowing when it’s time for change…

Biden will go down fighting

Trump is thrashing him

Better at golf
Richer
Has a bigger house
Has a better wife
Has healthier better educated kids
Was a better President

Joe is looking like a loser and that makes him furious.
