IVF embryos are people too

Yet another reminder to folks who think Roe wasn't a big deal because they would never have an abortion. The republicans aren't stopping at abortion. There is no aspect of your sex, reproductive, family, or personal life that they do not think they have the right to control.

Republicans are only against recreational sex because they don't get any.....

I can't wait for the number of dead bedroom posts to really skyrocket as men wonder why their wives aren't having sex with them........ Well Jim, it's because we live in Gilead I guess.

But on the plus side I guess sex workers will probably be in pretty high demand

This a weird comment. Suburban women are not Trump's demographic. They see his threat to their sons and daughters and many do not support him.

The suburbs went 50-48 for Biden in the 2020 exit polls.

White women - by far the main recipients of IVF over the past 40 years - went 55-44 for Trump. Where do you think all these Trump'y women live?

Suburban women. 54 percent of suburban voters to biden in 2020. 59 percent of white college educated women to Biden in 2020.

Trump female supporters are more rural and with a lower education level overall.

This according to pew research.

This. It doesn't stop at abortion, reproductive health care for women or IVF. Republicans are coming for birth control as well. Good luck having sex guys, because it's not happening in Gilead.

From the conservative / GOP think tank...

Heritage Foundation
@Heritage
"It seems to me that a good place to start would be a feminist movement against the pill, & for... returning the consequentiality to sex."
"Conservatives have to lead the way in restoring sex to its true purpose, & ending recreational sex & senseless use of birth control pills."

In other words: conservatives want to end recreational sex and they also want to end no fault divorce.

Which means we go back to the "good old days" where my great grandparents just split up, weren't allowed to divorce, and lived separately after great grandma got tired of having babies every two years. Out of 8 babies, 5 survived.

Sounds awesome, doesn't it? I guess the rich women will be able to fly overseas to get sterilized after they finish having kids.

How many babies do they think a mother can safely carry to full term?

It’s disappointing that even someone who has utilized IVF is incorrectly using the term “implanted.” All humans can do is transfer embryos to the uterus. Whether the embryos implant in the uterine wall is beyond our control.

You misread your stats.

The GOP:
“We liked it when women were our (miserable) servants and marital rape was legal.

Cause women aren’t people in the GOP.”

And that's the problem: not all embryos implant even if they are transferred. Women also have natural miscarriages on top of potential non implanting.

If embryos are "people" then most women utilizing IFV to get pregnant may be considered "people" murderers by the GOP.

It doesn't matter. The clinics won't be offering IVF

If your body doesn't allow the embryo to grow pretty soon, you will be charged for manslaughter.

Where is the GOP going with this race to the bottom of the barrel?

I am very much in favor of the right to same sex marriage. However, I’m absolutely furious that Congress took action to protect it from *potential* threats as a result of the Dobbs decision, meanwhile, abortion rights are increasingly restricted, access to abortions is increasingly limited, women and girls are being harmed, and now fertility treatments are being curtailed. Issues that disproportionately affect women just don’t have the same urgency.

The ignorant judge who thinks people undergoing IVF can just make a single embryo at a time has absolutely no idea what is involved. To undergo IVF, most male patients typically only have to jerk off. The female patient has to have invasive testing done, undergo frequent blood draws and vaginal ultrasounds, inject multiple drugs into her body (dozens of injections per cycle), have eggs surgically removed from her body, then have an embryo (or multiple embryos) transferred back into her body, then continue hormonal injections. The woman may gain weight, tge veins in her arms may become compromised due to such frequent blood draws, she might suffer from over stimulation of her ovaries, she risks possible future cancer from the drugs used, she could end up with an ectopic pregnancy, and if she successfully conceives, she then potentially faces the myriad complications that can arise in pregnancy, possibly while having restricted access to abortion, even when medically necessary.

It's a travesty for judges and legislators to regulate medical procedures without having any clue what the consequences of their regulations will be.

Think I'm going to call the city today to ask what we need to do about the 24 chickens I bought today...... I mean they're still in the shell and unfertilized eggs that I plan on using and cooking and baking, but you can never be too safe, right?.
