Please. The "good guys with the guns" concept is a just a BS NRA talking point. |
I am the PP, PP was responding to. By all means legislate that. I am fine with AR-15 in a town or city armory to be unlocked for the citizens to use in case of attack. I don't see why anyone needs one at home either. |
Every. Single. Time there is a connect to insanity. Insane people shoud get treatment. Sometimes involuntary hospitalization. Insane people should not own weapons. Leglislate gun control all you like-I'm for it- but this needs to happen too. There are other ways to harm as we see in countries with more gun control. |
This is how I see it. The man clearly had mental health issues, said he was hearing voices, and that they were telling him to commit a mass killing. That’s, in part, why they held him. A mass attack like what happened in Israel is the perfect trigger for someone in the military to come ‘to the defense’ of the public. For all you know, the voices were telling him that the innocents in that restaurant and bowling alley were Hamas terrorists and it was his job to kill them. The military clearly knew he was armed. Where were the Feds? He’s clearly the “domestic terrorist” they are after, so where were they? |
Seriously. The PP is insufferable. Myths and ignorance notwithstanding, mass shooters are not shooting from 100 yards while exhibiting their consistent head positions and great control over their weaponry. They are shooting from feet away and randomly blasting through bodies so that it takes days to identify people in a small town where everyone knows everyone. Point and shoot in general direction work just fine in a classroom or bowling alley. Congrats to PP to accepting the loss of innocent lives in exchange for jollies at the gun range. |

I feel like every time there's a mass shooting (the fact that that's such a hum drum thing to type is alarming, but I digress) the gun enthusiasts come into the thread with the sole purpose of flexing their knowledge of weapons. It's almost like they're gleeful that they get to have a platform to spew this (at the end of the day) really worthless knowledge of the inner workings of assault rifles.
Someone will tell me that I just used the wrong terminology, and guess what? I don't care. I care that someone who shouldn't have access to guns did and killed a lot of people. The fact that there is such a large group of "gun enthusiasts" is the problem. Easy access is the problem. Mental health issues aren't the issue. Easy access to guns while experiencing mental health issues is the problem. But I'm so sick of these "pfft, you don't even understand the inner workings of an AR-15, go to a gun range you simpleton" posters. GTFOH with your sh!t. No one but military should be experts in those, not randos on the internet thinking they're going to come into a thread about a lot of dead people and school us on the mechanics of these weapons. |
Republicans. |
Tell that to the GOP and see what you get. |
Because, naturally, there’s always going to be plenty of time for “the citizens” to hop in the car, drive down to the “town or city armory,” stand in line, appear before their appointed betters, present their credentials, receive their bought-and-paid-for personal property, drive home, clean and lubricate their firearm, load it and make ready, and then respond to “attack,” which doubtless will be on hold pending the “citizen’s” completion of these ministrations. Tell that to the folks about a mile and a half as the crow flies from my house in a quiet suburb who were suddenly confronted the other day with a broad daylight home invasion by multiple individuals armed with guns. People have the right to keep their belongings where they want to, not where they are told to. Freedom isn’t about “needs,” especially “needs” determined by some overarching authority armed to the teeth with the very weapons it seeks to withhold from its “subjects.” Concepts like yours are frankly delusional. |
Good question that I asked very early in this thread. If the FBI was actually surveilling MAGA as all the RWNJs think they are, this guy would have been flagged. |
+1 and for some, lifelong |
| They are now saying his potential motive is that his girlfriend broke up with him and was expected to be at the bar that night. Another grown-a$$ man who can’t take rejection. Gee, I wonder why she dumped him? |
| Republicans should take comfort in that absolutely nothing threatens 2A. No one is coming to confiscate ARs and gun sales will probably spike. MAGA! |
This is very reasonable. Plus red flag laws obviously. |
This shouldn't be a state-by-state thing. |
