PS: Where was the "good guy with a gun" Matt Gaetz and other gun nuts talk about?

They're the first ones running away and hiding.

DeSantis was already saying Democrats are "soft on crime" in relation to this tragedy. He's referring to the suspect who was in the Army.

Do we love the military or no? Seems like DeSantis does not love the military if he's so ready to throw a mentally ill murderer under the bus.

Do we believe in healthcare? Nope. This mentally ill murderer did not get stopped or helped enough to prevent this tragedy.

This is on Republicans for hating healthcare and promoting guns and talking about "soft on crime" with someone who was not even a criminal. This batsh-t dude would not have had a gun that kills so many so quickly without the help of Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz and DeSantis. Time to name names.

It's the guns. It's the guns. It's not mental health, it's the guns. It's the guns. It's the guns.

They use "mental health" as a deflection only. They have no intention of doing anything about mental health, either.

"What about the gun laws we already have?" - deflection.

Same with everything else, like "why should we take in refugees when we have our own homeless veterans that should be taken care of first" - except they have no intention of doing anything about homeless veterans.

Every time Republicans bring up a "what about" objection, it's almost always just a deflection tactic.

Why make stuff up?

With 16 people dead, how many people do you seriously think this POS hit? This is hard to believe for you?

Since the official reports are 18 dead and 13 injured, yes. 13, not 60-80. It’s a horrific event, but just making stuff up does not help.

So to answer your question of how many do I think he hit? 13.

It's the AR 15s that are the problem.

To be fair, these numbers were from initial media reports. Those #s turned out to be incorrect, but the posters weren’t intentionally lying.

"This was the first time that I'd actually taken care of someone with high-velocity gunshot wounds," Dr. Richard King, chief of trauma at Central Maine Medical Center, told CBS News on Friday. "I'd read about them ... but to actually see them in person and see the destructive ability of those rounds was really quite sobering."

"Most, if not all, of our patients had at least one of those really severe wounds," he said. "Absolutely destructive. Complete destruction of the surrounding tissue is really, really quite something."

This is like click bait to these gun nuts. They just looooooove to read something like this. Makes them feel all tingly inside.

Yup. They call it 'stopping power'.

Stopping innocent civilians from bowling and playing cornhole? What kind of weakling needs an assault weapon to do that. Pathetic.

Also stopped 20 first graders from going out for recess that day (or ever again). But the important thing is these guns are legal so people can cosplay at home and pretend they're going to stand up to the government one day.

Y'all cain't take away mah freedom.

Isn't it weird how countries with higher rates of mental illness than the US, like Ireland, don't have the same mass shooting problem as the US?

No, no, no.... It's "mental health." That's all it is. Sending thoughts-n-prayers!

Hmmm... Interesting. I wonder if it's because you can buy assault rifles? Could it be that?

How can someone be so wrong, so often?

I don't know. What happens when you shoot a grade schooler with an AR-15? Can you do an open casket funeral...or does that depend if the weapon took off their face or not? Is it typically better to put a framed picture of their last school picture ever on top of the casket? What do you think?

Well said. A bunch of the little kids in Uvalde had their faces shot off. Most were identified by their shoes.

Remember Uvalde, ammosexuals? It's where 400+ cops stood around like pansies listening to elementary school kids scream and cry and die because they (the cops) were afraid to confront someone with an AR-15 (they knew what they do to the human body.)

But 2nd Amendment, cosplay, and fighting off government tyranny for 2 days. Well, two days is generous because the gun nuts are equally as coward as the Uvalde police...

Hmmm...gosh, what a novel idea! Maybe, just hear me out, maybe if you allow people suffering from paranoia and other severe forms of mental illness to buy arms, especially high powered rifles, you're going to have a much higher rate of mass shootings! Wow, who would have thought?
