PS: Where was the "good guy with a gun" Matt Gaetz and other gun nuts talk about?

They're the first ones running away and hiding.

DeSantis was already saying Democrats are "soft on crime" in relation to this tragedy. He's referring to the suspect who was in the Army.

Do we love the military or no? Seems like DeSantis does not love the military if he's so ready to throw a mentally ill murderer under the bus.

Do we believe in healthcare? Nope. This mentally ill murderer did not get stopped or helped enough to prevent this tragedy.

This is on Republicans for hating healthcare and promoting guns and talking about "soft on crime" with someone who was not even a criminal. This batsh-t dude would not have had a gun that kills so many so quickly without the help of Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz and DeSantis. Time to name names.

It's the guns. It's the guns. It's not mental health, it's the guns. It's the guns. It's the guns.

Well this should be simple, people.

As soon as a weirdo has a mental break and expresses the need to hurt others, you ask if he's bought an assault weapon recently, and if he says yes, you corral all the arms dealers, weapons lobbyists, NRA top brass and NRA A+ politicians in a certain locale, and plop the mentally ill perp in there with his weapon.

The surviving US population will be short a few gun nuts, but most importantly, they'll be rid of the true monsters - those who help preserve the lethal status quo in Congress. Two birds with one stone.

How do you gun nuts square the fact that your hero, your paragon of 2A rights, the one who you claim absolutely should have access to these guns, well, the one mechanically similar to the ones he had that are indistinguishable from civil war era, blah blah blah, died by the very equipment you claim to love?

Me? I don't give a crap. I'm glad he's dead. But you lovers of guns, how do you reconcile this?

It's a shame he wasn't kept in a psychiatric hospital.

It's also a shame he had an AR-15. (But that's 'Murica for you.)

Yes, phew. Any word on when the next mass shooting is?

Let’s pencil it in! But first, let’s get the mechanics of the guns we choose down pat lest we use the wrong wording. That would be embarrassing.

If you’re tired of reading the pathetic posts by ammosexuals.

Interesting story about one of the few restaurants that stayed open.

PP here. I'm all for gun control, longterm psychiatric care in a supervised setting or hospital for those who need it, and longterm prison sentences with no parole for violent crimes.

So embarrassing. Imagine calling and “AR” an “AK”! The Gravy Seals wouldn’t be able to discuss anything cogently at all!

I come from a hunting family. No hunter needs an assault weapon. There are perhaps some parts of the country that are very hunting-oriented, but that's not a problem at all.

We can enact federal: assault-weapons ban, weapons-modification ban, rigorous background check, red-flag law and gun fair sale restrictions... without gutting the 2nd amendment.

And if we built walls at the southern border (which costs an absolute fortune, which is why it's never been done in its entirety), and funded control and management of check-points, we'd have fewer drugs and weapons coming. I know the southern border isn't the only point of entry.

We also need to FUND and TRAIN police and sheriff forces across the country, for God's sakes, so that they arrest more criminals and confiscate more guns from them. For God's sakes.

Police forces and sheriffs are the best funded portion of pretty much every budget across the country. If you don’t like the work they do, it’s the fault of the police union and the fact that bad police officers are never chucked out. Like pedophile priests, they’re just moved around.

Seriously, go look at your city and country budget. See the amount city and county law enforcement receive. They have plenty of money, increases, even.

WE NEED MORE. Just because they're the "best funded" (more than schools, I think not), it doesn't mean it's enough.

Not going to check every jurisdiction in America but yes, the NYPD’s budget is larger than the NYCPS budget.

Republicans are the pro mass shooting party. Time to start calling them that in ads, on the campaign trial, and anywhere else political discourse takes place.

Put the burden on them to prove it wrong.

What we do know is that the next mass murder of school children (decent chance it'll be next week) will most certainly not be the time to talk about gun control. It's important that thoughts and prayers happen first, then we let the shooting fade from the news cycle.
