Because liberals are sick of reading about GOP corruption and how somehow they’ve arranged it in such a way as to be functionally untouchable. And cons don’t actually care about corruption; they want their authoritarian government and they want it now and without question. An activist court is precisely the weapon they want in their arsenal. |
The part that I was going to highlight was this: ““I can’t imagine — it takes my breath away, frankly — that he would go to a Koch network event for donors,” said John E. Jones III, a retired federal judge appointed by President George W. Bush. Jones said that if he had gone to a Koch summit as a district court judge, “I’d have gotten a letter that would’ve commenced a disciplinary proceeding.” “What you’re seeing is a slow creep toward unethical behavior. Do it if you can get away with it,” Jones said.” This is what the GOP is trying to do to America. Wreck it. |
The corruption run deep in this one! It is great that Thomas will throw out death penalty cases because of small errors but he as Supreme Justice can “make adjustments to correct small errors” on his disclosure forms. Not that it matters. Alabama has refusing to comply with a Supreme Court order and we know Biden will not enforce the ruling. So why should any other state or individual comply with SCOTUS rulings? |
Other than the fact that this article clearly shows how Thomas was bought off to change an opinion, what’s most surprising about this is that the joke conspiracy theory about “The Meadows” that Mike Myers’s Scottish father character shared in So I Married An Axe Murderer seems to have been about Bohemian Grove and it seems to be legit. |
Why is it taking the media so long to get to the heart of this matter.
It’s like they are so unable to get to the point: Yes he’s taking a private jet…. to collude with oligarchs to corrupt the court and undermine democracy. Sure. the private jet is the issue. |
Probably because they can 100% prove the private jet but they can’t 100% prove the collusion with oligarchs (though I agree, it’s right there). The trick is to see that the GOP doesn’t care about any of this. They are complicit in the GOP’s ongoing destruction of norms. |
The media who cover the Supreme Court will lose access(like they have any now). You know no more sound bites or fake news/deep background reports with no names to manipulate the public. Reporters are happiest when they can do a both side/aboutism story- a conservative democrat(ie I am deeply concerned by the courts latest scandal but it is more important to continue as is vs change anything no matter how bad it gets….)vs a conservative republican(ie if you do that story maga will come after you. You liberals are weaponizing DOJ and store the election…) |
The both sides media is going to be the death of us. I think that’s honestly why no one besides ProPublica has dug in, or at least not reported on it. They just can’t find any evidence of the liberal justices being corrupt and so they’re not saying anything. |
More evidence that the great experiment of America is potentially drawing to a close. We cannot survive if the Supreme Court has this in its underbelly and the people can’t do anything about it.
Thomas belongs in jail. The GOP don’t care. Can the rest of the Supreme Court expel Thomas or force him to recuse himself on cases or is the only solution for him to be impeached by Congress (which we know won’t happen because the GOP are corrupt lying Kiera who won’t tell their supporters the truth). I feel sick to my stomach about what this all means… |
I've said it before and I'll say it again: In any advanced democracy Clarence Thomas would have already been forced to resign.
A complete disgrace. |
