Was the balloon transmitting data to China (likely via satellite)while it was over the US? Or did China need to recover the balloon to get the data?

Probably a dumb question but I haven’t been able to find the answer even after reading many recent articles.

The US military was jamming any signals that may have eminated from the balloon since before it entered US airspace, so, no, it wasn't.

Do you honestly believe that a huge, white balloon would be missed by US air defense systems? I’m sure they’ve been tracking it for weeks.
