and vanderbilt beats georgetown on parchment, but no one would choose vanderbilt over gtown imo - parchment often has wacky results like this |
What a bizarre take. No, the greek system doesn't control the social scene at Michigan. The school is too big, and there are too many other things to do in Ann Arbor for that to be possible. I went to U of M for 4 years, and only went to a handful of frat parties early on. There was no lack of social activities. |
TBH, I only know one kid who applied to/accepted by Michigan after being rejected by Vanderbilt. All the other Michigan students I know applied straight out. |
+1. At 73K a year the adults need to step in. At least visit! |
This needs a PSA to not imbibe hot drinks when consuming. IDK anyone in DCs' HS classes who would consider Michigan below NYU, Tufts, and Villanova. And this is a crowd heavy on HYPSM/top NESCACs legacies. |
Tailgate State alums citing Parchment as a source. Too funny. |
….as opposed to pseudo-intellectual snobs who cite no sources for their biased observations. |
I would choose Vanderbilt over Georgetown. |
I was thinking the same thing and scrolled down to see someone had already commented this. And I would choose UVA and Michigan over Georgetown. One of the most overrated schools in the top 25. |
Michigan resident here. Went to UM for grad school. It has always been known for grad schools. Social sciences rank with Harvard and Stanford. Some points:
- Michigan has grown in recent years. Now 50,000 students - sports is big, but not overwhelmingly. - even in-state, you can't be a slouch and get in. We live in one of the Detroit suburbs and in a very good school district, plenty of kids weren't accepted. Have no idea why people think it is easy. - funny but have always thought Michigan State has more school spirit. Their graduates tend to stay here, marry someone from here, and die here. - for OOS? That's their cash cow. Unless you want to be on Wall Street or a big company in engineering, save it for grad school. - like anywhere, Michigan is good for a certain kind of student. You need to not be afraid to get out there and meet people and explore. |
My DC chose Michigan over GU. Ultimately wanted to go out of state for college, we aren't Catholic, and DC objectively thought Michigan was the better school. Obviously other people are free to make their own decisions. |
Not sure where you get 73 a year. With DC Tag, it is 42k plus room and board. |
Can anyone comment on the School of Music, Theater and Dance at the University of Michigan? Reputation, teaching quality, opportunities etc. Thanks |
There is a rabid anti-umich poster on here who is obsessed with the south. |
At this point, it's not looking like it. |
