Lily Collins is too thin in Emily in Paris

You're making my point here. EDs are viewed as a moral failing, and being thin is sin-adjacent. Being obese is totally fine though, because this isn't about health at all.

Defending EDs? Ma'am? That like accusing someone of defending cancer. Even if Lily had an ED, pointing out that this thread is mean spirited isn't "defending" a disease.

Oh yes, won't anyone think of the poor beleaguered thin people, who are derided and punished at every turn. They can hardly even show their faces in public. When is Thin Rights Month anyway? We need a march!

I love Paris and love this genre but cannot watch her because she is so emaciated! This is the first time I’ve felt this way.

She looks terrible.

Somehow landed on this thread and it's a bunch of angry anorexics--DC never disappoints with it's toxic culture.

I disagree. She's average looking at best, horse-like face nepo baby with a normal, healthy looking body. You Americans are all so big that you have a distorted view of what a normal weight looks like. Also she skipped the breast / butt implants, which was a very smart move.

NP. She has acknowledged struggling with anorexia in the past. But you do you and enjoy your 800-calorie-a-day diet.

DP, but being underweight is as bad as being overweight and I don't see people complaining about fat actors being a "bad role model". You only have concerns when it's a thin woman. Which suggests jealousy. Being thin is hot, get over it.

More women die from eating disorders than any other mental illness.

Still dwarfed by the #1 cause of death-- heart disease-- caused by obesity, high blood pressure etc. Objectively, we have a way higher prevalence of dangerously out of shape women than anorexic women.

Please research how great anorexia is for your heart if you’re going to pretend to be concerned about heart disease…

Both are terrible for you. You should neither be anorexic nor obese. But by the numbers, obesity is much more contagious than anorexia. Yet we pretend obesity is hot and thin people (not even anorexic) are the sick ones. It's some kind of bizarre psyop.

Most people are saying both anorexia and obesity are bad. Nobody is saying a healthy thin person is actually unhealthy, not sure where you’re getting that.

Can we stick to the topic (Lily Collins) without whataboutisms about obesity, humble brags about being naturally skinny (and before you start, I’m skinny too) or complaints that Lizzo is part of some bizarre psy-op about obesity being healthy after all, as opposed to, you know, part of the body positivity movement for people who have difficulty losing the weight.

So we’re talking about Lily Collins. Who was heavier in the past, has suffered from anorexia in the past, and it’s a lifelong disease. And she’s super skinny in season 4. True, none of us sit at the table with her every day. But there is some consensus here that she’s under-eating again. What do you guys think about THIS?

The premise of this thread is that she's too thin. It's literally in the title. Why is it okay to pick apart the body of thin person (and all the health issues that may come along with being too slight), but at the same time, we would never be allowed to have such a thread debating whether Lizzo is too overweight.

Your argument is that the body positivity movement is to show kindness toward women who've needed to lose weight. So where's the kindness toward this actress that has struggled with anorexia? Do you really think threads like this are showing kindness?

Everything is a study in contrast. We can't talk about whether this lady is too thin unless we establish what kind of weight is socially acceptable. And I'm just over here noticing that everyone is supposed to find Lizzo acceptable but not Lily Collins. And I'm challenging that. I think she looks fine and her weight is not relevant to my enjoyment of the show. I'm here for the energy and fashion and not to declare that the lead doesn't have the right body for the role.

You yet have to learn what "anorexic" actually means. I understand you hate the look, but don't exaggerate.

She is thin and possibly underweight, but she doesn't look anorexic at all. Probably similar weight as her mom at her age.

She's literally gone on record to the press and in her memoir about her years-long battles with anorexia and bulimia.

Except no one is talking about "thin rights." They are saying that it is gross to speculate about whether or not someone has an eating disorder because (1) you cannot know just by looking at them and (2) an eating disorder is a dangerous illness and shouldn't be used as gossip fodder.

If you want to say that thin people are ugly or that Lily Collins thinness is ugly, fine. But sitting around debating whether someone you don't know has a debilitating and dangerous mental health condition just because you find her body unappealing is whack. Have a smidge of empathy for people who deal with eating disorders (a group that includes Lily Collins, the person whose body and weight you are picking apart for fun).

Fine but that’s the past and not necessarily her present. I think she looks great in the new season. And I not some pro-Ana weirdo.

It's not clear why you think this is so damning. She had an issue. Now she's just thin. And yes. She looks different, because she is aging. Thin faces tend to get more angular as they age. That isn't the same thing as being underweight.

And when you look at her, she's objectively not emaciated. She is thin, and that's okay. People are not required to be full figured.

And meanwhile, her costar Ashley Park was actually terribly sick and hospitalized during the filming of this season, and I notice no one has mentioned that, in spite of all those concern about celebrity health.
