Actually you’re the one who doesn’t care about other people. And you’re an idiot. Your kids’ immune systems are now shot and they are going to get way sicker when they inevitably catch something. And it sounds like your job isn’t cushy like mine with unlimited sick leave and vacation. There is no way that masks are preventing spread by kids - either they are old enough to know how screwed they were by the pandemic response or they are young enough that a mask is wet and spreading more germs. That being said, enjoy sidelining your kids who will hate you as adults. Ask mine how banning sleepovers went when no one else’s parents had that restriction. |
Thanks for putting me in my place. ![]() You are angry. I worry about your blood pressure. Maybe you should use your unlimited sick leave. |
I copied this from an Ohio district’s website:
Quarantining students at home who have been exposed to COVID-19 in a school environment has the unintended consequence of reducing in-school learning and can be an added strain on parents, schools, and local health departments (LHDs). While vaccination and mask usage are critical components to ensuring a safe school environment, we offer an in-school alternative to quarantining students and school staff at home who have been exposed to COVID-19 in a school environment to support in-school learning and reduce the strain. This recommendation is informed by a growing body of national experience, a pilot in Warren County, and experience shared by other LHDs that points toward a low number of individuals with direct contact to a COVID-19 positive individual within a school setting who convert to positive cases. Based on this information and the success of the Warren County pilot, we recommend the following for K-12 students and staff exposed to COVID-19 in a school setting. Please note: Eligibility to participate in mask to stay/test to play is contingent on the exposure being in the school setting or school-related activities. This does not apply to household exposures or exposures outside of the school setting or school-related activities. Mask to Stay Direct contacts, regardless of vaccination or masking status, may remain in the classroom environment if they do the following: • Wear a mask for 14 days after their last date of exposure. • Self-monitor, or parent-monitor, for symptoms of COVID-19. • Isolate and get tested if they start to experience symptoms associated with COVID-19 (regardless of level of severity). • Consistent with guidance for others quarantining in lower-risk environments, students and staff may discontinue these quarantine procedures after seven days — if they don’t develop symptoms and test negative between days 5-7. Direct contacts for COVID-19 are those individuals who are identified as being directly exposed to COVID-19 by the positive case. Remember, COVID-19 is a respiratory virus and does not require physical contact to spread. It is spread through sneezing, coughing, talking, and breathing. These factors should be considered when determining level of exposure and direct contacts. Best practice for distancing is 3 ft with everyone masked, 6 ft if the individual is not masked. Parents and students are responsible for symptom monitoring; however, if nurses/school staff see a child exhibiting symptoms they should act accordingly. |
I have been very Covid cautious to date and even I think we should move to eliminate masks in K-12 starting a week or two after the December break. Everyone in the building will have had the option to be fully vaccinated/boostered at that point. |
Same. I have also been super covid cautious and my kids have been troopers throughout COVID. The school mask mandate needs to end once school age kids have had a chance to be vaccinated. I’ve found McAullife’s comments on keeping mask mandates very distressing. I am so mad I early voted for him. I had no idea that was his view. |
What did he say? |
That Youngkin will lift the mask mandate no Day 1 and he will ensure that mask mandates stay because they keep schools “safe.” Terry is not reading the room right. By January kids will have ample time to have been vaccinate, I sure hope whoever is governor lifts the mandate by then! |
And watch the teachers begin to quit. I'll be first on the list. I will not teach unmasked and unvaccinated children. |
You’re delusional, programmed and conditioned to live in fear. I have been working with kids pre, during and now “post”? Covid. Not vaccinated. Put the mask in school for show.. down on the chin or whatever… traveled overseas multiple times between December 2019 and now. Nothing wrong. Went thru the spikes, the delta variant, whatever other variant they’re inventing now and im still walking the earth man. And believe me, my habits aren’t the safest. Turn your tv off. And build your immune system, fool. |
Wish people would focus more on getting Covid under control than complaining about the mitigation. |
So according to you we're going to mask...forever? Some kids (and adults) will never be vaccinated. |
Most of us have already done the maximum we can do (fully vaccinate all eligble family members ASAP.) What exactly does my "focusing on getting Covid under control" look like? |
well for starters, get case rates down before you start talking about ending masks. we're still in substantial transmission, not the time to end masks unless your goal is get us back up to high |
You don't appear to back science when it comes to kids + Covid + spread (which has been documented to be low). Do you spend your day yelling at your kids when their masks slip below their noses? |
LOL. Like I would listen to you!!! Good try. ![]() |
