I know too many vaccinated people who have gotten Covid since Delta came our way. I was ok with unmasking back in early summer but not now. And not how kids are packed into schools. |
For what duration? Until Covid disappears? Until 100% of people, including children, are vaccinated? Neither of those things are ever going to happen. There needs to be some metric or goal post for life returning to normal. |
Getting COVID can no longer be try standArd. |
Yes this is what I’m struggling with. Why does America ignore the rest of the world? |
Are you saying this is at a possibility? Or that it happening isn’t a nightmare? |
PP here. are you saying *this isn’t a possibility*? |
I know, right?? I can hold my breath for 3 minutes under water, can you?? It's just not that big a deal to hold your breath for that long. I can't believe how overdramatic people are about it. It's not that big of an inconvenience. I often forget that I have to come up for air after 3 minutes, and I forget to come up to the surface when I run out of air. 🤷♀️ |
Some of those countries have had real lock downs, limit travel, etc. which is why its much safer there. |
It’s all about control not your health. My child will not be vaccinated. |
You do realize at this point BILLIONS of people worldwide have been vaccinated. The data is there. It is safe and effective. |
Many of those countries have stopped all mitigation methods! Just admit - you have "faith" in the mask, not science. It is not because they have “beaten the virus”; among European countries, the case rates, vaccination rates, and mortality rates cover a wide range, above and below those rates here in the U.S. It is because all of these other nations recognize the harms these burdens impose on kids. And although the risk of COVID is of course not zero, relative to so many other dangers that children face, from drowning to suicide to car accidents to other respiratory viruses, COVID is below all of them. |
Other countries are not masking kids because it’s fact based rather than political. |
I am ready for this offramp both for my kids and for myself! I have to wear a mask 8 hrs a day in my office despite a 90%+ vax rate. Ridiculous. |

There are new meds that could be approved that should help when people do get sick. DS wears a mask because it is required, so do I, but will be thrilled to not have to wear a mask. They are not comfortable. Yeah for everyone who thinks that are easy and we should all just stop complaining but they are not comfortable. I didn't like scarves as a kid and I don't like masks as an adult. My kid is not a fan of wearing his mask. He does without complaint because it is required for attending school and other activities but compliance does not equate with "its no big deal." |
