Mark Milley, single-handedly took top-secret action to limit Trump from potentially ordering a dangerous military strike or launching nuclear weapons, according to "Peril," a new book by legendary journalist Bob Woodward and veteran Washington Post reporter Robert Costa.

Woodward and Costa write that Milley, deeply shaken by the assault, 'was certain that Trump had gone into a serious mental decline in the aftermath of the election, with Trump now all but manic, screaming at officials and constructing his own alternate reality about endless election conspiracies.'

Milley worried that Trump could 'go rogue,' the authors write.

After Afghanistan, Milley has no credibility

You didn’t read the article, which also says that Trump loyalists at DOD signed a secret memo to withdraw all Afghanistan troops on January 15. That would have been much worse.

Maga would have been crowing about how awesome it all went, not matter what kind of a mess it was.

The only question, will DOJ and US Military JAG (in the case of several officers) do anything about it?

Yes, all elected Republicans except Kinzinger and Cheney are pretending it wasn’t a coup.

Elected Republicans are traitors.

The only people claiming this are the most partisan Trump loyalists.

If the stories are true about Milley's phone calls with Milley are true, he needs to resign now. He should have resigned long ago. Even Alexander Vindman says that if the stories are true, it would be treason.

I think he would be vindicated in a tribunal. There is no reason for a country to bow to a madman.

I think the vast majority of Americans are grateful for anything that keeps us out of a war with China. He would be vindicated in a heartbeat.

Absolutely. More and more we find out that sane and sober people like Milley saved the Republic from an unhinged Trump regime.

That kind of stuff happens all the time to avoid misunderstandings that might lead to war. That's why we warned the Russians about our air strikes in Syria.

The bigger issue is what he did about the nuclear first strike stuff, but I'm sure we all agree that that was perfectly reasonable and a good idea given the circumstances.

Saving our country from getting preemptively attacked by China because our President had lost his mind is the opposite of treason.

According to Woodward, he actually called China and said not to worry about an attack because he has it covered.

There’s no indication the President was going to attack or had lost his mind.

Says you. What do you know about it? These people saw him every day.

Clearly there was enough of an indication that Milley took these extraordinary steps.
