From IG photos it appears they often had the baby with them in all sorts of weather so to think they made a mistake is illogical at best.

I think either something terrible happened Saturday or Ellen’s state of mind worsened and she couldn’t go on but didn’t want her family going on without her. As a PP stated, they lived in the middle of nowhere. It sounds like Ellen struggled if she had to have so much hired help for a small house. Her classes didn’t take much time. John worked, the nanny cared for the tot, what did Ellen do?

Was the thought of the child turning one too much? She’d require much more attention moving forward as she walked and explored. Tantrums would become more pronounced. Another poster mentioned PPD and most women that kill their baby it occurs within the first year most often.


Iirc Ellen mentioned trying to find herself. Possibly she could not.

Ellen studied integral medicine which I find concerning when coupled with what occurred.

Integral medicine is about being concerned with the whole person rather than the disease; calling on the universal life force (prana or chi) manifested mentally, physically and spiritually.

I haven't seen hard evidence of this but I posted before she seemed like a free spirit who as a pretty young mom for a city girl who had a very fast courtship with a fun adventurer 15 years older who made her a wife in the middle of nowhere with a small, needy baby. I'd put money on this being an unplanned/wanted (by her) pregnancy and some severe depression living in the middle of nowhere. DCUM can skew conservative in some ways where she should be lucky to have a high earner husband and isn't that young but....idk. I don't buy it.

No, I didn't know her but I knew many women like her and was somewhat like her myself in my 20s and getting knocked up and moving to bum**ck nowhere with no friends, family, or really much at all to do would have been the stuff of nightmares for every one of us. And that's for the mentally healthy. I can only imagine any pre-existing mental conditions would be exacerbated by such major life changes and isolation.

No that actual makes sense. She was into non-allopathic medicine and if she had PPD - if would have felt like a professional and personal failure not to overcome her depression with holistic treatment.

Actually it is - signed someone with a country house. The stars aren’t that bright and no ambient lighting or direct lighting makes everything five feet in front of you look like the abyss.
