3 years ago she had another military with huge pockets outfit - and someone on DCUM called her Soviet Barbie (thank you, anonymous DCUM poster!):

The return of the Soviet Barbie!

What an ugly shade of green and those huge shoulders. She could wear anything with her figure and she chose that.

It is funny how american's judging the fashion trends. Yes, big shoulders are in, including big puffy shoulders. It does not fit into you Macys/Nordstrom idea of fashion, but it is in.

It’s more mother of the bride.

It's a good powerful color on her (Pelosi also can rock that pink). However, it looks awful on the red background.

We're judging Little Miss Stalin Cosplayer here. It's "Americans" not "American's" by the way.

And how down to earth she seems in her high fashion Nazi regalia. What pride we all feel, seeing her in the garden she trashed for this beautiful Hatch Act violating occasion.

Melania is a big fan of Alexander McQueen.

Nazi regalia? McQueen is a British designer, a gay, a person who grew up in a public housing and worked himself to the international recognition. I would not call people like that a Nazi.

Clothes don't exist in a vacuum. They are objects that are worn on specific people. Melania - married to a would-be banana republic dictator, who cosplays her way through every occasion - presents as putting on a costume when she wears a military-style outfit, in a way that other people, who rarely wear pith helmets while on safari in Africa, do not. Do you understand how that works, or are you so dedicated to believing that Trumps never reap what they sow you refuse to see it?

Is Ivanka listening to us re the cropped pants? More professional, but the shoes give away the game.

Her outfit's designer is irrelevant.

She intentionally chose something EXPLICITLY military. She knew it looked fascistic and that's why she chose it.

The whole RNC has been "bow down to Great Leader," and that's why she's dressing like Mussolini's whore.

McQueen's been dead of a decade. It's not like he had anything to do with Melania's little get-up.

The Alexander McQueen company is actually majority-owned by Gucci......which made boots for Italy's Fascist army during WW2.

Is Nikki Haley a First Lady or sitting royalty? She is not. Like it or lump it, we have narrow expectations of what makes for appropriate clothing, especially for politicians. Especially when the wildest color I can remember her dressing in previously is aubergine. This is shocking pink! and beaded! with a swingy hem! It’s a lot.

Also Jackie’s “assassination dress” wasn’t that bright. She wore shocking pink on her trip to India.

It looks much more militaristic in full view- like a style rather than an actual military garb. I wonder if she considered the a height of the podium when she chose the outfit. Probably, but maybe not?

This. I no longer feel compelled to give any of these women any benefit of the doubt because they’re playing some stupid game. Yes, when your husband is going full fascism and you dress like Eva Braun mugging for the camera at the Eagle’s Nest, you bet your buns I assume you’re purposely drawing parallels.

At these cropped pants are longer than she typically goes. Cropped pants and 3/4 sleeves generally make her look like an awkward giant.

I had plunging neckline on my bingo card:

Sad role of the genetic dice, she has Marla’s skinny nose and the trump giant teeth and gums.

Clearly she has the strappy hooker shoes in more than one color.
