| Hey neti pot users, can you talk me through this? If you're using it for seasonal allergy relief, when do you do it? Morning and/or night? Can it work if you're already stuffed up? Do you do it over the sink or in the shower? TIA! |

If you need to use it every day, just use filtered water. You aren't supposed to use the solution that frequently. I prefer to use mine in the shower, because sometimes the phlegm makes me gag.
if I'm a little stuffed up it helps. If i'm totally blocked it does not. |

I do it every morning in the shower in the winter (when my allergies are worst), just because it's easiest and the steam seems to help. You can do it more than once a day if you want to... I've done it twice a day a couple of times.
I've tried it when completely stuffed up on one side or another and it doesn't work very well, but sometimes it does loosen everything up so you aren't as stuffed up. I've started using the bottle since I like the force you get from squeezing it. |
Do you mean water plus salt or water alone? |

I use it morning and night over the sink when I'm stuffed up. If you can do it right after you shower, that's great, because the steam loosens things up.
Be sure to use filtered or boiled water and either a prepackaged solution or non-iodized salt. |

| I love my neti pot and when I am stuffed up from a cold or allergies I use it every morning. I have been using warm tap water with the packet but now know I should be using previously boiled or bottled water. So, tell me how everyone does this? If you are using the neti pot in the bathroom either at the sink or in the shower how are you getting the water warm? Do you go down to the kitchen and warm the water up then bring it back to the bathroom? Do you have some way to warm the water in the bathroom? |

I do it over the sink. I have one of those small plug in water heaters in my bathroom. I boil water at night and let it cool over night and then pour in some cold water, heat up the rest and top it off to make it warm.
I also like the squeeze bottle as I think it helps move things a little more. For me it doesn't work if I'm really blocked up. |

No flaming- I live alone and use it in the kitchen sink. I know it's gross but not that much worse than the bathroom.. |
Thats why I stopped using mine. I did not want to boil or use bottled water. |

Millions of people use these for thousands of years. The two people who died used regular tap water, in a state where municipal water isn't good to start with so this was 1. Isolated 2. Improperly used and yes, it's worked very well & saved many from having surgery.
1. Use only distilled, boiled or quality bottled water. 2. Heat it (suggest 120 degrees 3. There are small gizmos (like for traveling) where you plug in one end & the other goes stainless steel end goes in your container or pot. It's fast, it's easy, it's quick & stores right in the bathroom for convenience. 4. No table salt (iodized). Good quality like Himalayan is better & non irritating. Your putting this inside your body but not through stomach. 5. Some have had great healing also adding a specific kind of honey from Australia for chronic sinuitus . Can't remember the exact name but saw it on a website & it's the only brand they sell: The Synergy Company I just ordered (not tried yet) because it's also organic there. May check on Amazon but search only for this type. No other honey bees work . Go figure. Take one teaspoon & let it melt in your mouth while heating up good water just to warm. Sinus' are membranes, sensitive & warm is good. Add 1 teaspoon of this honey to warm (body temp) water and stir with salt (amount can vary on salt recommendations...1 teaspoon to start is fine) Some used without honey at first then add it for a second "go around" as they say it coats those membranes & pro motes healing. Now...the only excuse is not getting over the idea of it. For me, it's worth it. No more colds & you absolutely can use it more often. |
