What a mess.

Did they make it to the U.S.? It's not clear to me from the news if they made it onto their next flight:

Puerto Rico is the US

It's a territory of the U.S., not one of the states of the United States.

Anyway, what I meant was has he made it to one of the 50 states in the United States? Meaning, if he makes it to one of the 50 states, he's safe. If he's stuck in Puerto Rico, DR might get ideas and try to pull him back.

Such as??

The missing stamp is his entry-stamp into the DR, which is located in his original passport (which the DR apparently refuses to relinquish).

How is that any different from an emergency passport provided to a US citizen traveling aboard whose passport gets lost or stolen? Those also won’t have the entry stamp and will be blank. I know so many people that have had to get a passport under emergency circumstances (usually these kind of passports are temporary and only allow entry back into the US, once you’re back in US you still need to get a brand new one if that makes sense but this temporary one gets you back home into the US). How is this any different?

So it doesn't show he went to the DR, but he is taking a return flight from DR into PR and getting asked where the hell are you entering from? Obviously, world knows this story by now but those folks need to see a stamp.

How can you get an entry stamp on a replacement emergency passport? How do millions of Americans who’ve lost their passport while traveling abroad and get an emergency passport from their embassy ever get back into the US? Are you referring to a stamp DR should have placed on his new passport at the airport when he left last night? Because if so and they didn’t stamp it then sounds like it was deliberate.

No clue. Unless he has told someone what happened, or it has been reported, don't know.

Whenever I have to assume something was either deliberate or incompetence, I lean towards incompetence just based upon past life experiences.

Sometimes the stamp is not fully on a passport page. If you see that it's cut off and they probably did so without realizing, ask them to stamp again just to make sure.

Anonymous wrote:^^Yup. Also, there have been hotel review allegations against the hotel for spiking alcoholic drinks. Considering how both he and Sudiksha are on video vomiting in the bar, no telling if their drinks were spiked.

Oh.

Was not aware of that detail about the video.

Doubt you are right about “spiked” alcoholic drinks. That’s a kinda crazy theory you cooked up in your head, PP.

Do you drink alcohol? I’m guessing not, since anyone who drinks knows full well that vomiting will occur with ANY alcohol if one drinks enough of it.

Yes I’m aware of the past cases of tainted alcohol being sold by DR bars; believe the bars got a cheap deal from island distilleries on “rejected” batches of rum (probably mostly heads and tails, them mixed in with known-good batches).

NP. It’s not a far-fetched theory at all. Read the reviews of the hotel from that week.

So it’s not an entry stamp. Again. How can there be an entry stamp on a brand new emergency passport? It must be an exit stamp. Press said he had an escort go through security with him, so I call BS on DR “forgetting” to stamp at exit when that’s what the person whose job it is does it ALL DAY.

Or did security let him through in DR before exit stamping because they *knew* everyone knew where he was headed? But PR said nah we need to see the stamp

Yeah no. They deliberately didn’t stamp it. Either to be petty or worse. Who cares what everyone knew. When you get off an international flight whether it’s in Dulles or San Juan you’re segregated from the rest of the airport until you go through DHS so everyone is assumed to have come from their flight point of origin. Doesn’t check out.

This thread is not about missing student Sudiksha . It is about Joshua Ribe POI. Change the heading.

What a series of colossal missed opportunities and horrible self owns by the United States. Weak and incompetent.

Does the Ribe family have a business?? supposedly, the are super rich? Anyone know their professions. Also, was Joshua wired 50,000 on the day of the disappearance from his parents? So, so many comments on instagram on this.

Anonymous wrote:From what I’ve read it appears the US was waiting for the judge to say he was free to leave but the DA was still dragging its feet returning the passport. Then the embassy agreed to give him a replacement passport which Ribe chose and the story didn’t break until he was already on the plane flying back. I assume it was to try to catch the DA off guard, because Ribe’s team didn’t trust cooperation and that the DA would follow the judge’s instructions (which it still hadn’t done). Reminds me of the last scene in Argo of the Americans rushing to get on the plane.

Actually DR offered to return his passport so he would not have to acquire a new one. So your scenario is total fanfic.
