UHC CEO Gunned Down in Midtown Manhattan

The irony.

Yeah as much as we are celebrating him I would still be devastated if my child threw his life away doing something like this. Odds are he’s getting some prison time and he’ll be sitting in a cell for many years after the news cycle moves on. He is clearly well educated and had someone investing a lot in him. I wish there was another way to overthrow the ruling class without young people feeling this desperate.

That said … for all the other disgruntled people out there who want to kill and be in the news, take note at how glorified this guy is compared to school shooters. If you want to go out in a blaze of glory, this is a better angle than killing kids and teachers, just sayin’.

But this kid was part of the ruling class through his family’s wealth and earning money off of medical reimbursements…

That's his family. He was born into it. Yes he benefited but he's only 26, he didn't start the businesses nor did he take them over or anything. I know a lot of people in his situation
(very wealthy, but ashamed of their family's wealth).

Whether you like it or not, we need Medicare claims for elderly care. I still have empathy for his family. Mental healthcare for adult kids is beyond impossible.

How is operating nursing homes similar to an insurance CEO using unethical means to deny claims?

Is his family scamming anyone? Or are they providing a needed service to the elderly community? There doesn’t seem to be anything more immoral about this business than any other medical facility. And who exactly was harmed? Are you saying the patients are being unfairly treated in someway? Also do you think his family is raking in billions each year and stock options?

I just don’t see how this is at all the same.

They also took him off goodreads. They are trying to wipe his footprint off the internet

But who is doing it? Platforms themselves? His family per his instructions? Or???

And how do you know that?
Wouldn’t the platforms welcome the increased traffic and more ad revenue?
The platforms and websites. To avoid wacko armchair detectives like you. SMH.

No, they are still “celebrating” him. Like the people who built a legend around the mysterious, masterful Unabomber, when it was poor Ted Kaczynski all along.

The media now posting bits of his manifesto and wondering, like Luigi, why life expectancy is so poor in the US, with stats.

Why would they? He still took a stand against corporate medical greed.

He’s going to take a plea.

Yeah no way this goes to trial unless he pleads insanity and even then very good chance of a plea.

Crime is on video, footage of him at Starbucks, and they found the gun and the fake idea he used to check into the NYC hostel PLUS a 3-page "manifesto" that will show motive, on him in Altoona.

He's cooked.

Probably, but that also means they don't need to offer him anything. Posters here may have fanciful ideas about jury nullification, but there's no way a jury doesn't convict on first degree murder here.

Yeah?

If I’m on that jury, I’ll hold out until it hangs. I don’t care what they say, I just won’t convict. Period.

Now, there’s plenty of people out there like me.

+1, guy will never be convicted.

Yes he would. The evidence is insurmountable at this point. It isn’t a jurors job to decide if the crime was ethically justified. Their job is to analyze if there is enough evidence beyond a reasonable doubt for the crime they are charged with

I've been on juries. It's just a group of randos doing what they will.

I mean I don’t think it’s the same but the guy wrote a manifesto about putting profit over care when his family got rich off of assisted living. Do you think the care provided would have been better if they spent more on staff/facilities/programming/recuiting and not grown quite as rich?

He shot someone in cold blood and then he ran. That’s not taking a stand.
