They played a ton of common opponents with really similar results (except for the second Langley/Yorktown game and the Langley lopsided win over Chantilly): Robinson Madison 9-8 OT, Langley 9-8 2OT West Potomac Madison 10-7, Langley 8-7 Westfield Madison 14-1, Madison 15-4, Langley 12-3 McLean Madison 12-5, Langley 13-7 Centreville Madison 11-6, Langley 18-1 W-L Madison 11-5, Langley 11-6, Langley 16-5 Yorktown Madison 13-5, Langley 12-5, Langley 10-11 OT Chantilly Madison 10-9 OT, Langley 13-6 Madison has to be the favorite just based on history. Langley needs to win 70+% of the faceoffs (they should), avoid sloppy turnovers, and finish possessions with quality shots that are on target. They are good enough to win but need to play a clean game to have a chance. |
Forest Park will upset Battlefield. Heard it hear first. Eastern Prince William ain't no joke! |
Good call. I mean FP lost to Gainesville 15-2 and Battlefield beat Gainesville 12-3, but FP probably just had a bad night and will likely dominate Battlefield. Region B is terrible this year except for one team. |
The state bracket should be rearranged |
It's not going to happen, but it would be nice to see each region get one team and then four at large bids. I would have all four Region D semifinalists, Robinson, West Potomac, Battlefield, and Cosby. |
this year it is an easy call that those are the 8 teams that should be in. But in a year where it is not so clear, who would decide the at large bids? |
They used to use a power points system. Some sports and regions still use it. Downside is that it discourages you from scheduling tough non-conference games because taking losses really hurts. I think they should just poll the DCUM board and ask them who is best. |
Could really use the TOP 10 Rankings this week.
|
I don't usually do it once we get to regionals and teams start getting knocked out. This is how I see it based on current strength. I know Langley beat Robinson but I think Robinson is a bit stronger than Langley right now. I know Yorktown beat Langley but I think Langley wins that matchup most of the time. I know Oakton beat Yorktown but I think Yorktown has improved more and is stronger than Oakton right now. 1. Madison 2. Robinson 3. Langley 4. Cosby 5. Battlefield 6. West Potomac 7. Yorktown 8. Oakton 9. Chantilly 10. McLean |
Langley v Madison is too close to go stat for stat. I think it’s who will be able to rise in a huge elimination game between arguably the 1 & 2 in the whole state. Madisons history in big games has to give them the edge, but with that being said Langley has been putting out some great performances against the top teams in the state. My only knock on the Saxons is the game against Stone Bridge (They were missing some key players I know) and the District championship against Yorktown. If they come out like they did in those 2 games than it will be a long night for them. 15-12 Madison. |
Anyone know if the Oakton - YT game is going to be on NFHS tonight? Neither the boys Oakton-YT or the girls Oakton-YT game (prior game tonight) are scheduled on NFHS at the moment. This also happened for the YT-Mclean game in districts where it didn't broadcast on NFHS. Is it the AD's job to schedule or someone else's? |
What’s the scouting on Cosby? I have a gut feeling they could be better than what folks give them credit for. |
Think YT has their own YouTube channel. and the world’s most annoying/homer announcer doing unnecessary play-by-play.. |
They got rid of the YouTube channel this season and used NFHS. Maybe they forgot to continue for the playoffs or are trying to hide game film. |
Early reports are that the Inn plans to turn away anyone wearing Forrest Green tonight - guess no chili dogs for Saxon fans |
