Calling this tournament a “super high level” is pretty over the top.

They qualified for a tournament and did not advance to knockout games. They left simply as they arrived, merely division winners in a abbreviated season playing in a weak division.

Anything to help your disappointment in your kid playing in division 4 of ncsl.

No, is your kid playing in the Premier League or NWSL?

No, and they probably won’t, along with the other 99.5 percent of players around here, but she’s playing at the highest level at this point of her soccer “career”.

If this can’t be considered “super high” tourney I don’t know what it- it’s the top ecnl teams from the region coming together to compete.

World Cup, Olympics are examples of a “super high” tourney. This is just a league tourney for kids.

Who asked?

Sorry BSC or VDA Dad. This is just a poor performance from arguably the better teams in this area. Wondering if this is the teams/coaches choking or they are benefit to overall low quality of play in this area.

Same benefit FCV enjoys that is nationally average teams in the area to beat, but lack standing when facing teams from other parts of the country. Maybe next year.

You can’t make this stuff up: the foxes in Leesburg putting AMAZING weekend when one of their teams goes 1 loss 2 draws in playoffs…. I insist: you cannot make this shit up.

It’s Loudoun. What do you expect? Just submit your “donation” and shut up. That’s all that matters over there in the Burg.

And yet it is true. Little League World Series is a more legit “super high” tourney. International teams, ESPN coverage, open admission. ECNL was nothing more than a seeded showcase with a cheap medal at the end of it.

I have the same opinion of all “national championship” tournaments.

It’s only a national championship of the teams are made up of players from all over the nation. As it is, these are teams based solely on geography - who happens to live near the team. As such, clubs will have good and bad age group teams based on the randomness of who lives nearby. That and the size of their local player pool is what determines the best teams.

Saw a video on tiktok of this-

Cleveland was playing pda. U15.

Cleveland’s top player was taking a corner kick and the corner flag was flying so hard down into where the ball was. It was impeding her ability to kick. She removed the flag- ref gave her a yellow which was her second so she was red carded.

A parent for PDA advocated for her to not get the red which would prevent her from playing the next day.

The yellow was reversed and she scores the goal to advance them, thus eliminating PDA. This was for U15

Exactly and on top of it they are all league based and as such are closed tournaments. We have no form of "Champions League" even trying to get ECNL, GA, USYS on the same fields.

Professional level leagues may or may not be closed leagues but they are all open to the best players from anywhere. And finally, they are kids, and it is ultimately a college showcase. The "Championship element is simply a gimmick

Even if ECNL, GA, USYS played in the same tournament it’s still just geography based teams of chance. College recruiting showcase is a good term for these national playoffs. Not saying they aren’t valuable for college recruiting but let’s not make these into something they are not.

I’d bet money majority posting in here have children at lower level of play, or no kids at all. Just posting to post.

Not at all true. These "Championships" are nothing more than seeded showcases.

Exactly. There is mutual benefit that drives having these seeded showcases. College coaches can see all the recruits in one place, less traveling. Players can be seen by many coaches in one place. These tournaments would not exist if not for the recruiting aspects and corporate sponsorships making them profitable. It’s not about identifying the best team. Teams win as long as they just qualify for these tournaments because it helps their players be seen, get recruited by colleges, which helps them recruit more players.

+100

This plus the other hard to swallow pill, there is a whole other huge showcase going on with games that college coaches are also attending. College coaches are interested in PLAYERS not TEAMS.

Oh my, the ignorance is strong here.

Last time I checked the NCAA Div I had a National Championship. So did Div II, and DIV III. All called National Championships. Oh, wait, we also have the same structure in State High School Championships. Not to mention AAU basketball and NBA Youth, AAU Track and USTAF track.

ECNL, GA or USYS is no different. All are "leagues" that create a National Championship playoff to see who comes out on top from around the US. To say it does not mean something is absolutely ignorant. Even the young players in USYS Presidents' Cup are having a great time competing to win.

Is there a difference in the level of talent and competition? Certainly. Some players are gifted with talent and work hard as compared to others. Many are also gifted into families with a lot of money to invest in training. Do you think if Olivia Moultrie, Christian Pulisic, or Claudio Reyna were born into lower middle class families, they would be where they are today? Of course not. But what they were born into is not there fault.

Look, life is not fair. That's just how it is. We compete to try to win. If we knew who would win every game, we wouldn't play. Would the GA Nat'l Champ beat the ECNL Nat'l Champ? I have no idea other than it would be a great game. One thing I do know, College coaches were there watching both teams on the way to win there respective Nat'l Championship. You know where else College coaches were? They were attending games of players on other fields who have spent the time emailing them all while they were practicing and trying to keep excellent grades.

Playoffs matter and showcases matter.
