Choked is poor choice of words. VDA and BSC got to nationals and lost. I’m sure there are multiple reasons why they ended up third in their group. The person who says they choked clearly never played sports at a super high level. It is a very simplistic viewpoint.
Calling this tournament a “super high level” is pretty over the top. They qualified for a tournament and did not advance to knockout games. They left simply as they arrived, merely division winners in a abbreviated season playing in a weak division.
Anything to help your disappointment in your kid playing in division 4 of ncsl.
No, is your kid playing in the Premier League or NWSL?
No, and they probably won’t, along with the other 99.5 percent of players around here, but she’s playing at the highest level at this point of her soccer “career”. If this can’t be considered “super high” tourney I don’t know what it- it’s the top ecnl teams from the region coming together to compete.
World Cup, Olympics are examples of a “super high” tourney. This is just a league tourney for kids.
Rofl. Gtfo with that.
And yet it is true. Little League World Series is a more legit “super high” tourney. International teams, ESPN coverage, open admission. ECNL was nothing more than a seeded showcase with a cheap medal at the end of it.
Just curious what you think of GA Champions League tournament as well?
I have the same opinion of all “national championship” tournaments.
It’s only a national championship of the teams are made up of players from all over the nation. As it is, these are teams based solely on geography - who happens to live near the team. As such, clubs will have good and bad age group teams based on the randomness of who lives nearby. That and the size of their local player pool is what determines the best teams.
Exactly and on top of it they are all league based and as such are closed tournaments. We have no form of "Champions League" even trying to get ECNL, GA, USYS on the same fields. Professional level leagues may or may not be closed leagues but they are all open to the best players from anywhere. And finally, they are kids, and it is ultimately a college showcase. The "Championship element is simply a gimmick
