I posted this upthread and still haven't seen any of them reply that they are ready and willing to be redistricted.

Bunch of hypocrites. Don’t just mention TJ. Let’s do what is necessary and diversify Langley and McLean and other schools.
We should also bus white and Asian kids to primarily black and Hispanic schools, to diversify them as well.

Agree! Equality requires a redistricting overhaul to bring all our schools into balance. And this is nothing to fear. My DS (white) attended a Title I ES, MS and HS where he was absolutely a minority - majority Hispanic, followed by Asian - and got a terrific education.

To the owners of the omnipotent “we” - the Bolshevik revolution has not happened yet. You have a vote, others have one too. So just curb your enthusiasm. Otherwise disappointment lurks. Just my $0.02.

We can increase black student s at TJ only by properly educating these students early in elementary/middle school.

We should auto admit top black students (50-100) from each fairfax county elementary school for the AAP programs.

I agree. On top of this they should be in their own AAP class.

We should also eliminate private psychologist reports for the aap appeals or provide free access to psychologists for black parents for appeal cases.

Excellent idea.

The fcps board should adopt a policy of achieving at least 10% black students in all schools and programs especially AAP programs.

What if they don't want to do it, are you going to make them? I assume a fair amount of busing would be required. Plus, not everybody want to be in AAP even if they were qualified for it.

Kudos to you!

If you need to understand why people are sensitive about where their kids go to school, please look at Exhibit 1 - The Obamas. Why did their kids attend Sidwell and not DCPS? They are symbols of equity and equality.

If you think, reform can be just pushed through, you are very mistaken.

They didn’t attend dcps because it couldn’t provide the level of security Sidwell could. Not sure they would have attended dcps anyway but Amy Carter did and it was not a pleasant experience. And if you have to ask, the president’s children are at a higher risk of being assassinated than a typical schoolchild.

As for the students, if you look at TJ Vents you’ll see from the anonymous posts just how elitist many of them are - not surprising since their parents, AAP, and TJ have drilled into them for years just how superior they are to other kids.

I've had enough of your BS. Yeah, they are elitist. So what are you going to do about it? You can't do Sh*T! Dare you to try.

It's a public FB page. Perhaps they make it public as a cry for help.

Returning TJ to its original use as a community school to help the immediate neighborhoods and expand the number of high school seats for county students is not destructive. It may be anti-elitist and anti-racist. Not surprisingly, some defenders of the status quo at TJ have their heads so far up their ass that they don't know the difference.

Ain't gonna happen. Teach your kids how to take the bus (it's yellow) so they don't have to cross 495 by foot..

Rodney Dandergield in the house. Try that and see how many school board members get reelected.. The next one will be so far to the right for decades if someone pulls a move like that.

The fairfax county school board should reflect the demographics of the county and Blacks should have 10% of the seats seats, Asians 20%, Hispanics 30% and whites 40%. All of the candidates to the school board positions should also sign a pledge prior to elections to send all of their kids to public school w/o exceptions and to desegregate all schools in the county to reflect the demographics.

So it appears that smart Blacks don't want to go to TJ and anymore smart Whites don't want to got to TJ as numbers are seriously declining. What does the school board do in
5 years when the Asian numbers at TJ are 80% or 90%?

Is TJ even a legal use of taxpayers monies?

You are deflecting the real issue. The real issue is not just TJ but all schools and all programs in fairfax. Elementary schools are much more important than high school. We need to desegregate all schools not just TJ.

It is, until you can prove otherwise.

You can't force equality of outcome. You can and should fight for equality of choice.. which already exists.

My TJ kid will be done next year so I shouldn't even care about this issue but this onslaught of commie thinking is just **uggh**, We cannot (and WILL NOT) let the country go down a path where it becomes a communist "people's republic". There are other countries like that in existence where you will fit right in. Don't let the door hit you on the way out..

I would bet you most TJ parents pretend to be liberal on almost every topic, but when it comes to any criticisms of how TJ currently is operating they are quick to call people “commies” and worse.

The situation there is definitely getting more attention, though. See below. I honestly think they know change is coming and they’re just venting. This forum should just be renamed TJ Parent Vents.

https://www.thevablacklifestylemagazine.com/post/not-one-black-student-was-accepted-into-virginia-s-top-high-school-s-class-of-2024

(BTW, apparently the real number is 6, not 0). A School Board member shared that even if FCPS thinks she wasn’t supposed to. Still pathetic and offensive.
