The article was ridiculous, because the kids listed used the exact prepping tactics to get in. Now they are outraged taht they worked for them.

According to a Virginia state senator: "Thomas Jefferson HSST must change or the General Assembly will bring change to Thomas Jefferson HSST. Time is running out."

Sounds right, although time ran out years ago. Close it down.

Yet another group only moved to fairfax or started attending FCPS in middle school solely to have a better shot at TJ.

It seems like a lot of kids who get accepted to TJ either come from private school or do private from K-6 followed by FCPS AAP middle at one of the TJ feeders. Kids who are benefitting from a private school education are going to be much wealthier (and less likely to be a URM) than the kids who've been with FCPS throughout.

You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried-the data says otherwise. Only about 34 kids from private schools accepted and much less enroll. Talk about talking out of your ass!!

You can’t read. PP was saying that a lot of people do private k-6 and then go to TJ, a pattern which would not be reflected in TJ admit data.

I don’t like your last sentence. Threats of violence are never acceptable.

The rest is fine.

The protesters at the White House aren't the violent one. The violence is coming from inside the White House.

I believe the new media phrase for protests is, "Mostly peaceful."

I don't see how this school is even legal. Schools like this were made illegal in the 1960s.

Then look at AAP admits by elementary school, and see that whiter parts of the county have more AAP students. It’s not necessarily TJ discriminating, it’s black students lacking early opportunities.

I taught in a middle school with a large percentage of POC. When it came time for TJ admission applications, they didn’t have the resume of ECs and summer camps that the white kids did. We need to start targeting these kids young if we want them to gain admission and be successful at TJ.

Change admissions process for AAP while kids are young.

Anonymous wrote:Why is there so much focus on the low number of black TJ students and the number of black people among CEOs, on corporate boards, etc.? Why don’t you start with improving high school graduation rate in DC? If 30% of black students can’t graduate from their base high school, how do expect them to graduate from TJ or become a CEO? I’m honestly so puzzled. Protesters should put their efforts into mentoring black children and help them get education and jobs. If they have a decent job, they will be much less likely to engage in criminal activity and have interaction with police as a result.

This.

The problem is with AAP. Fix the AAP program.

Racism against Asian Americans must stop.

Asians who equate the denial of opportunity for others with racism towards them are part of the problem.

Where do you see Asians euating denial of opportunity for others as racism against them?

I think we often forget POC includes Hispanics and Asians as well.
