It's a public FB page. Perhaps they make it public as a cry for help.

Returning TJ to its original use as a community school to help the immediate neighborhoods and expand the number of high school seats for county students is not destructive. It may be anti-elitist and anti-racist. Not surprisingly, some defenders of the status quo at TJ have their heads so far up their ass that they don't know the difference.

There you go again. I want the county dump moved from Fairfax. it was a pristine forest before it was converted into a dump. I really don't care for the rest of the county. And if you object, you are elitist. Nice try lady.

I wonder how many in the Annandale neighborhood have bought their homes from before the community school was converted into TJ. If you bought there knowing that the neighborhood school was actually a magnet then what is the basis of the complaining.

If I bought my house knowing I share a wall with I-495 then it is rich for me to later complain about the noise and in your case, ask for the highway to be relocated.

But carry-on, keep trying to leverage racism, elitism and everything else to get to your narrow goal. Selfishness is other side of the elitist coin.

Comparing TJ to the county dump is a fairly apt metaphor in many respects.

The change that moved Annandale kids to Edison is relatively recent and, while others may have bought after the community school was converted to TJ, you are basically arguing that kids deserve a sub-par experience if their parents didn't know or couldn't afford better. About what one would expect for those defending an elitist semi-private academy with 2% FARMS school that admits next to no low-income, black or Hispanic kids.

Returning TJ to its original use would benefit those who actually need the most resources.

Not pp, but you should stop acting like a spoiled child. You’re not asking for equality but (more) privilege that you say you’re fighting against.

I think they’re trying to leverage the current situation to blackmail people and FCPS.

More black students for AAP centers and other lily white high schools in fcps! This is more urgent than TJ.

We can increase black student s at TJ only by properly educating these students early in elementary/middle school.

We should auto admit top black students (50-100) from each fairfax county elementary school for the AAP programs.

More minorities cleaning the classrooms at TJ than learning in them.

Just as the namesake would have wanted.

Cleaners tend to be hispanics/Asians than blacks.

Anonymous wrote:It’s amusing to watch many TJ alumni make a big push now to rename TJ, change the mascot, and call for change to make sure the number of black students increases from “TS” to 11 next year all so they can forestall the School Board actually taking a harder look at TJ.

As for the students, if you look at TJ Vents you’ll see from the anonymous posts just how elitist many of them are - not surprising since their parents, AAP, and TJ have drilled into them for years just how superior they are to other kids.

TJ Vents is not a site that is representative of the student body or the experience. It's an open site where the strongest and most angsty feelings of adolescents are on full display. And most don't post there at all and the ones that do post on their worst days. Imagine if every HS had such a site - the postings would be equally worrisome.

Your bias shows terribly when you assume that these students, their parents, AAP … have all drilled into them that they are superior. Your remind me of the parents from our ES who complained nonstop about AAP and the effects on their kids when we all knew that the people most drilling the feelings of inadequacy into their children were their parents with their relentless, vocal and very public anger towards AAP and the students in it.

I posted this upthread and still haven't seen any of them reply that they are ready and willing to be redistricted.

I agree. On top of this they should be in their own AAP class.

Bunch of hypocrites. Don’t just mention TJ. Let’s do what is necessary and diversify Langley and McLean and other schools.

We should also eliminate private psychologist reports for the aap appeals or provide free access to psychologists for black parents for appeal cases.

We should also bus white and Asian kids to primarily black and Hispanic schools, to diversify them as well.

The fcps board should adopt a policy of achieving at least 10% black students in all schools and programs especially AAP programs.
